Replacing the front brake pads VW Polo Sedan and Skoda Rapid

This manual will be useful to all owners of Volkswagen Polo Sedan and Skoda Rapid cars who have decided to independently replace the front brake pads. So, in order to change the pads, you will need:

  • jack
  • balloon key
  • flat screwdriver
  • 12 open-end wrench or box wrench

Procedure for replacing pads VW Polo and Skoda Rapid

This procedure is best done in a garage or on a flat surface.

  1. We remove the wheel by first lifting the car with a jack.
  2. Using a flat screwdriver, slightly recessed the piston of the brake cylinder so that there is a gap between it and the pads
  3. Using a 12 mm wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the caliper to the bracket
  4. We remove the caliper and hang it in such a position that in the future it does not interfere with the dismantling of the pads
  5. Removing the old pads
  6. We clean the place of fixing the pads in the caliper bracket using a metal brush
  7. Install new brake pads in the reverse order of removal
  8. We put the caliper in its place, and install all the remaining parts in the reverse order.
  9. The replacement procedure is repeated on the second front wheel of the car.
