Replacing the gasket under the valve cover of the VAZ 2110-2111

The most common reason for the appearance of traces of oil on the surface of the VAZ 2110-2111 engine is its leakage through the valve cover gasket. In fact, it is quite difficult to find a high-quality gasket, for example, the one that was on the car from the factory. And what is sold in stores is not always of the best quality, so after replacing it, after a few kilometers, you can see oil leaks again. In general, this procedure is quite common on such motors, so the problem concerns many owners.

So, in order to replace the valve cover gasket VAZ 21102111, we need the following tool:

• Phillips screwdrivers
• The head is deep for 10 or a regular key
• crank or ratchet handle
• small extension cord

It is worth noting that this procedure will not differ much, both on a carburetor engine and on an injection engine. The only difference will be in the fastening of the throttle control cable. The injector is usually mounted on three nuts. On the carburetor, there you just need to loosen the nut with a 13 wrench and remove the cable.

After that, it is necessary to disconnect all the pipes that fit the valve cover, having previously slightly loosened the clamps. Then you can unscrew the two nuts securing the cover to the cylinder head, as clearly shown in the photo below:

Then carefully remove the washers that are under them:

And no less carefully, you can lift the lid, thereby removing it from the studs:

When the cover is removed, you can easily remove the gasket from its groove:

Now we wipe dry the surface of the cylinder head, as well as the groove on the cover itself, then you can replace the gasket by installing a new one in place. All removed parts are installed in reverse order. The price of the gasket ranges from 50 to 100 rubles, depending on the manufacturer.
