Renault Logan heater radiator replacement

Today it is impossible to imagine a car without heating. At least in our harsh climate. If the stove in the car fails in a thirty-degree frost, that car will pass very close. This applies to all cars, and Renault Logan is no exception. The heating radiator of this car can be a real headache for a motorist. But luckily it can be replaced and you can do it yourself. And we will dwell on this in more detail.

Diagnostics of the stove radiator malfunction

Replacing the stove radiator may be necessary in two main cases:

  • radiator leak Signs of a leak are the appearance of antifreeze on the front carpet (under the feet of the driver and passenger), as well as a drop in the coolant level in the expansion tank;
  • inefficient operation of the radiator caused by its clogging. At the same time, when the engine warms up to operating temperature, the stove heats up weakly, the air flow heats up only at high engine speeds.

If these malfunctions are identified, you should not worry, you can do the work of replacing the stove radiator with your own hands in garage conditions.

Appointment of the heater radiator for Renault Logan

The Renault Logan heating radiator performs the same function as the main radiator of the engine cooling system: it serves as a simple heat exchanger.

Heating radiators for Renault Logan are usually made of aluminum

The principle of their work is simple. Antifreeze heated by a hot engine enters the stove radiator, which is intensively blown by a small fan that blows hot air from the radiator grilles into special air ducts. Through them, hot air enters the interior of the car and heats it up. The intensity of heating is regulated by changing the fan speed and changing the angle of rotation of a special throttle valve for taking cold air from outside.

In a Renault Logan car, the heating radiator is a conventional heat exchanger

The location of the radiator of the stove in Renault Logan

The stove radiator is located under the dashboard, almost at the level of the cabin floor, at the driver's right foot. It is not possible to see it, as it is closed on all sides by plastic panels and upholstery. And to get to the radiator and replace it, this entire lining will have to be removed. The main part of the work on replacing this device is connected with the dismantling of the lining.

The stove (heater) in a Renault Logan car is located in front, in the center of the cabin, under the dashboard. The radiator is located inside the heater from below, but you can see it only by removing the plastic decorative trim.

The diagram shows the main elements of the Renault car heater, the location of which every driver should know:

  1. Distribution block.
  2. Radiator.
  3. Heating pipes.
  4. Cabin fan resistor.
  5. Left front air duct for heating the footwell.
  6. Air recirculation control cable.
  7. Air distribution control cable.
  8. Air temperature control cable.

Step by step guide

1. Remove the lower cover from the latches and remove it. We take it as shown below and discard it to the sides (towards the doors).
