Replacing the engine cooling radiator on the Niva
Now quite often the owners of the Niva, and many Zhiguli, are faced with such a problem as a radiator leak. If we recall past times, then for the most part brass or copper radiators were installed on such cars. And now they are trying to save on everything and put the cheapest aluminum ones. They are not so reliable and in terms of cooling quality they are also inferior to radiators made of more expensive metal. If you are faced with a leak problem, then it is best to replace the detail completely with a better one, rather than constantly soldering it.
To perform this procedure on the Niva, you will need at least:
- 10 head with ratchet
- Small extension cord
- Flat and Phillips screwdrivers
The first step is to completely drain all the liquid from the cooling system. Then we take the necessary screwdriver and unscrew all the bolts securing the hose clamps. There are three of them in total. The bottom photo shows the first one:
The second is located here (leads to the expansion tank):
And the last one is at the bottom:
Now you can start unscrewing the bolts that attach the radiator to the car body:
The second bolt is on the other side. After that, you can lift the radiator and take it out upwards, approximately as it is clearly demonstrated below:
The final result of the work can be seen in the photo below, when the Niva radiator is completely removed from the car:
The price of a new good quality radiator is at least 2000 rubles. We make the replacement in the reverse order.
