The radiator is the most important element of the cooling system and its damage precludes further operation of the car. The radiator can be repaired or rebuilt, but it may also be cheaper to replace it with a new one.

The engine radiator is usually quite durable and should withstand at least a few years of operation or more than 200 XNUMX without problems. km of the vehicle. However, sometimes there is leakage from Replacing the radiator cooler appears much faster.

The radiator is easily damaged, as it is located at the very front of the car and is almost unprotected. The cause of the defect may be a pebble that breaks through delicate pipes, and often the upper or lower tank is damaged as a result of impacts. If the damage is minor and the radiator is in good condition, you can try to repair it.

The cost varies and depends on the scope of the repair and the extent of the damage. If the entire core of the radiator is suitable for replacement, and this is a popular car model, then in many cases repairs are not required. Replacing the radiator beneficial, since the costs may be somewhat lower than the purchase of a new item.

Prices for coolers vary greatly and even for the same model can vary greatly, depending on the type and power of the engine. For the so-called replacement purchased outside the ASO network, you need to pay from 200 to 1000 PLN. The original cooler costs much more, often between PLN 1500 and PLN 2500.

The alternative is to buy a used cooler, but you should take a good look at it and check if it is damaged.

Replacing a heatsink doesn't have to be a difficult and complicated operation. If access to it is good, we can try to replace it ourselves. All you have to do is unscrew the fans, disconnect the rubber hoses and unscrew the two screws, Replacing the radiator to which the radiator is attached.

However, in many cars, replacement is not so simple, because the radiator is hidden behind the front apron and the bumper must be disassembled to remove it. And this greatly complicates the exchange.

If the car still has air conditioning, then we first need to disassemble the capacitor, i.e. air conditioner radiator. Unfortunately, this involves a visit to a service that will clear the system of gas. Unfortunately, this means additional costs.

Problems can arise even when unscrewing the aluminum fittings of the air conditioner. After a few years of operation, this will be problematic and it may turn out that in addition to the water cooler, an air conditioner cooler will also be suitable for replacing or regenerating connections. And this again increases the costs, which can increase from the initial 300-400 zlotys to 1000 zlotys.

In the event of a radiator replacement, the last stage of work will be filling the system with liquid, checking the tightness of the connections and the correct operation of the system. The engine must be warmed up to operating temperature and wait for the radiator fan to turn on. During the heating process, it is necessary to monitor the temperature indicator in order to prevent the engine from overheating in case of failure of the fans or their lack of connection.
