The very procedure for replacing a timing belt with a Hyundai Santafe is quite complicated and has many subtleties and nuances. If you've never seen this timing belt replacement procedure done before and you don't even know what it's about, BIG advice for you is better not to delve into it, you'll kill the car.

As a last resort, if there is no money, it is better to turn to a good family teacher who at least understands what is here and how and the sequence of actions. This procedure is best done with a partner, as there will be times when help is needed, and in fact, unknowingly, you can drop the engine on your head.

Well, look, go deeper, delve into and learn, a person is born unable to walk, but grows up and becomes a master in any business. Therefore, your inability and ignorance in this matter does not mean at all that with due care and desire, you will not be able to perform such a complicated procedure in the future as replacing the timing belt on your Hyundai santa fe.

Self-replacement timing for Hyundai Santa Fe classic CRDI 2,0 with AT3 process description

This method was developed based on what I read online on forums and was backed up by my own experience.

How to replace the timing belt for Hyundai Santa Fe

Since I was originally supposed to change the timing belt at the service, I monitored the market prices for this operation. I found out that on average the cost of replacing a timing belt on a classic Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 CRDI with AT3 starts from 6700 rubles (in a club service) and takes from 4 hours (replacing the belt as a gift).

Time passed, the run was coming to an end and inexorably approaching the mark of 60 t.km. No service was given preference. I decided to change it myself, especially since the spare parts were prepared a long time ago, a warm light box, as well as a friend with hands and a head were free. Day X came on a Saturday.

I started work at 10:05 and went home at 17:30.

Below is the algorithm itself.

In the pit, we remove the engine protection and move to a hotbox with a flat floor

  • Remove: battery terminals
  • Fuel filter (3 M8 bolts)
  • Power steering reservoir (2 M8 bolts and 1 M6 bolt)
  • Air filter box (3 bolts M6)
  • The intercooler is not disassembled, it is enough to unscrew the 4 M6 screws from the frame on which it rests so that you can lift it and unscrew the 4 M6 screws and remove the engine top cover
  • We unscrew the S32 right wheel drive nut, hang the right wheel, remove the right wheel, remove the right rack and remove the hub drive (this is done so that you can move the motor to the left)
  • To release the jack, lower the car onto a wooden wedge, so it will be more stable
  • We replaced one jack under the engine crankcase and the second under the gearbox crankcase, put wooden spacers and raised the motor and gearbox
  • We unscrew and remove completely, first the left support (5 screws and 2 nuts), and then the right one (5 screws and 2 nuts), unscrew and remove the central screw of the front motor support, the motor now hangs only on the rear support service
  • Now you can easily unscrew the roller of the belt tensioner of the unit (the same as parasite 25287-27001) and remove the belt of the unit 6RK-1510 and the parasitic roller
  • Unscrew and remove: crankshaft pulley (4 M8 bolts)
  • Top cover (4 screws M6) Distribution
  • Bottom casing (5 M6 screws) Distribution
  • Now begins the most confusing operation of unscrewing and removing the bracket (it is shaped at the back), to which the right engine mount is screwed, the tension roller and the timing belt are hidden behind it, and for which the engine is actually removed from service.

It is very difficult to perform this operation alone.

Two more handy

One lifts the engine and box and drains the engine using the mount and such and such a rod as far as possible to the left, and the second at this time makes sure that nothing breaks and unscrews (4 bolts) from the bracket and use the moment to tighten the bracket between the right side member and the engine (only one bolt can be removed with the bracket).

After completing this gymnastic exercise, you can move on.

According to the book, as it is written, we put two marks (on the crankshaft and on the camshaft) and remove the tension roller (by the way: the tension roller is exactly the same as parasite 24810-27250, so you can buy two identical parasites) Now we remove the timing belt and parasitic roller .

Then the reverse process. We put a new parasitic roller, the new timing belt has arrows (clockwise rotation), install the tensioner roller, remove the tensioner stopper (the tensioner fastening bolt is not tightened), check the marking and with the S22 key turn the engine with the crankshaft a couple of times aligning the marks, tension occurs automatically, tighten tension bolt hexagon 6 .

We check several times, because it is unlikely that you will want to carry out the operation described above before 60 t.km again.

To put a support, it turns out much faster, however, dexterity.

What is needed to replace the timing belt on the Hyundai Santa Fe

To successfully complete this event, you must have:

  • Pit or elevator
  • Hot box with flat floor
  • A set of tools: socket heads and various keys and extensions for them
  • 10,12,14,17,19,22,32, screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, lever, hexagons 6,8)
  • Two hydraulic jacks
  • Timing Belt Replacement Guide
  • Smart assistant with gentle hands
  • Seven hours of free time
  • portable lamp

Required parts and spare parts

  • 28113-26000 Air filter Santa 1 pc.
  • 24312-27000 Toothed belt Santa 2.0 CRDI 1 pc.
  • 24410-27000 Tensioner pulley Santa CRDI 1 pc.
  • 24810-27250 Santa 1 pc.
  • 28113-26000 Fuel filter Santa orig 31922 2E900 1 pc.
  • 28113-26000 Oil filter Orig Santa 26320-27000 1 pc.
  • Aggregate belt 6RK 1510
  • 25287-27001 Implement belt drive pulley (missing) 1 pc.
  • 25281-27060 Tension roller 1 pc)

What amused me, in all the manuals for replacing the timing belt (Santa Fe and Tussan) that I read, this is the first point: remove the engine and, as they say, you can no longer read.
