Description of the model

Nissan Xtrail T31 is a second generation car. Produced from 2007 to 2014. In 2013, the third generation of the T32 model was born.

The T31 was produced on the same platform as another popular car from the Japanese manufacturer, the Nissan Qashqai. It has two petrol engines 2.0, 2.5 and one diesel 2.0. The transmission is manual or six-speed automatic, as well as a variator, stepless or with the possibility of manual shifting.

Externally, the car is very similar to its older brother T30. The body shape, the massive bumper, the shape of the headlights and the dimensions of the wheel arches are similar. Only the forms have been simplified a bit. However, in general, the appearance remained harsh and brutal. This third generation has gained more elegance and smoother lines.

The interior has also been redesigned for greater comfort. In 2010, the model underwent a restyling that affected both the appearance of the car and its interior decoration.

The weak point of this car — paint. There is also a risk of rust, especially at the joints. Mechanical and automatic transmissions are highly reliable, but the CVT is more responsive to control.

Gasoline engines increase their appetite for oil over time, which is corrected by replacing rings and valve stem seals. Diesel is generally more reliable, but does not like low-quality fuel.

Replacement frequency

The Nissan X-Trail cabin filter is recommended to be changed at each scheduled inspection, or every 15 thousand kilometers. However, in fact, you need to focus, first of all, not on dry numbers, but on operating conditions.

The quality of the air that the driver and passengers breathe directly depends on the condition of the cabin filter. And if the design has become unusable, then it cannot cope with the tasks assigned to it.

In addition to not being able to purify the air, it will also become a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.

Factors affecting the wear of the cabin filter:

  1. The filter lasts longer in small towns with asphalt pavement. If it is a large city with a lot of traffic or, conversely, a small city with dusty dirt roads, the filter will need to be changed more often.
  2. In the hot season, protective materials deteriorate faster than in the cold. Again, dusty roads.
  3. The longer the car is used, the more often, respectively, it is necessary to change the filter.

Many motorists and service center masters recommend replacing once a year, in late autumn. When it was colder, the road surface cooled down and there was much less dust.

Modern filters are made of synthetic materials that retain micro-dust particles well. In addition, they are additionally treated with an antibacterial composition to prevent the development of diseases.

Video

As you can see, replacing the cabin filter on this model is not so difficult. More difficult than, for example, the T32 model, since the filter is located there on the passenger side. Here the whole difficulty lies in where the landing nest is located - the gas pedal can interfere with the installation. However, with experience, replacement will not be a problem, and the pedal will not create obstacles. It is important to change the filter in a timely manner and use suitable carbon or conventional products.
