Before choosing a UAZ Patriot cabin filter, you need to decide which type is right for you, since the type and location of the filter element have changed in different years of the car's production. So, for example, on cars with a "new" panel (after 2013), a completely new filter is used, which has the shape of a square with the following dimensions: 17 × 17 × 2 cm and is located behind the glove box - at the front passenger's feet.

On Patriots with the old panel, released before 2013, the filter shape looked more like a rectangle. Many Patriot owners note that the procedure for replacing the filter element in restyled versions is greatly simplified due to the fact that on such machines it is held only by a pair of latches. And on pre-project machines, to access it, you will need to unscrew a few screws and remove the glove compartment, but more on that below.

It is better to choose cabin filter options with a large number of folds, since road dust and other debris primarily clog the space between these folds, and the main air flow will pass through the remaining "bumps". The more "bumps" on the surface of the filter element, the better its performance.

It is also better to choose the so-called "charcoal" filters, which are coated with activated carbon. Such a cabin filter will reduce the entry of unpleasant odors into the car, and also has a certain antibacterial effect, preventing the development of mold and various microorganisms. On UAZ Patriot vehicles with air conditioning, the cabin filter will be located in the same place.

To start replacing the cabin filter on the Patriot, you need to prepare or acquire some tools, if there are none. First of all, we are talking about a screwdriver and a hexagon, without which it is impossible to get to the cabin filter of the Patriots until 2013. It is advisable to have a new filter element on hand to replace the old one.

If it so happens that you don’t have a new filter with you, and the old one is very clogged, because of which the stove does not heat well, and you urgently need to go into the cold, then you can try to vacuum the old filter element, or blow it with compressed air if you have a compressor . After such a procedure, the old cabin filter should still last for some time.

Replacement procedure - UAZ Patriot until 2013

Replacing cabin filters UAZ Patriot is conditionally divided into two categories: with the old panel and with the new panel (Patriot after 2013 onwards). The cabin filter in the prior version of the UAZ Patriot is located in the same place as the glove compartment. However, it is not located there in direct line of sight, the tools mentioned above will be useful to access it.

1. The first step is to open the glove box door.
2. Remove the cover located in the niche of the glove box.
3. Remove 10 screws with a Phillips screwdriver. 
4. Disconnect the connectors from the glove box lighting cable. 
5. Both glove boxes can now be removed.
6. Now we can see a long black bar with two hex screws. We unscrew them, remove the bar. 
7. Now you need to carefully remove the old filter so that the dust does not fly everywhere.
8. A new filter element must be inserted so that the side of the filter is visible, on which the mark and direction of installation (arrow) are indicated. The airflow is from top to bottom, so the arrow must point in the same direction.
9. The parts are assembled in reverse order.

Replacement procedure - UAZ Patriot after 2013

Replacing the cabin space filter of new UAZ Patriot models is much easier to perform. All you have to do is sit on the front passenger step, lie on your back on the floor and try to get your head under the glove compartment. However, such actions are completely optional; With proper skill, the filter can be replaced almost by touch. Alternatively, you can use your phone's camera to locate the filter element inside the cabin.

Since the filter is placed here not horizontally, as in the UAZ Patriot of the previous generation, but vertically, a ribbed plastic cover with two latches prevents it from falling out from below. It is noteworthy that the cover itself has a triangular shape, which creates the illusion of incorrect installation of the filter element. These latches often break in the cold, so it's best to replace them in a warm room. To remove the filter, bend the latches to the side.
