Replacement of BMW silent blocks
Silent blocks (rubber and metal seals) are used in BMW mainly by the well-known brand Lemförder, which is part of the ZF Group. Silent blocks are used to connect suspension, control and transmission parts: levers, shock absorbers, gearboxes and steering gears. In turn, the hinges dampen vibrations when the vehicle is moving and maintain the integrity of the chassis and suspension parts. As a rule, suspension bushings serve up to 100 thousand kilometers. But depending on the operating conditions and the quality of the roads, its service life can be much shorter. This is especially true of oil hinges (hydrosilent blocks), which, due to bad roads and more severe weather, wear out already at 50-60 thousand km.
Signs of wear on BMW silent blocks:
- Extraneous noise from the suspension (knocks, squeaks)
- Driving impairment.
- Vibrations and unnatural behavior of the car when turning.
- Oil stains on the hinges and parking of the car (traces will be visible in the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe wheels).
Defective bushings can cause damage to the associated suspension, steering and brake system. It is especially dangerous that the car can lose control at high speed and this will lead to sad consequences. It is worth noting that silent blocks are changed in pairs, for example, two loops of the left and right suspension arms are changed at once.
