      Gelu MK has become a very popular Chinese car in Ukraine due to its practicality and functionality. Even the simplest version of this model was rewarded with a generous bundle: a great design at an affordable price. Probably because the car is in demand in the domestic market.

      When is a clutch replacement necessary?

      Replacing the clutch on Geely MK is not difficult, but it is a rather thorough and energy-intensive service and repair job. Car owners often want to do everything themselves, without having any skills. They change the clutch themselves and think they saved money. No one ever takes into account their time and effort. They also miss possible not very pleasant results: they will do something wrong and still have to contact the service station.

      Another interesting point about Gelu MK. When choosing a clutch, you should pay attention to the various options for clutch discs. After all, the flywheel is 1.5 liters. engine - 19 cm, and 1,6 - 20 cm. These differences do not affect the replacement process itself.

      Disks perform an important function. Without them, the unit starts to go smoothly, without the possibility of sharp acceleration. Shifting gears also becomes difficult. And to stop the car you need to turn off the engine. If you move like this, then the gearbox will work for a couple of days. From such an overload, the ICE resource will be reduced. And so that these problems do not exist, just clutch discs exist. Their main task is to disconnect the internal combustion engine from the gearbox for short periods of time. And so the transmission is less overloaded.

      How to change the clutch on Gelu MK?

      If the clutch disc is broken, then you need to urgently fix this problem. Practice shows that it is better not to delay and not waste your time. He will turn to qualified craftsmen who will either completely or elementally do all the work of replacing. If you still decide to do it yourself, then read the instructions below.

      • First of all, remove the gearbox. (fig.1)

      • If the previous pressure plate (basket) is installed, it is necessary to somehow mark (you can use a marker) the relative position of the disc casing and the flywheel. To put the basket in its original position (in order to maintain balance). (fig.2)

      • Screw a bolt into the place where the box is attached and use a mounting blade to hold the flywheel from turning. And then unscrew the 6 bolts securing the clutch basket casing. The tightening of the bolts should be loosened evenly. (Fig. 3)

      • Next, we are engaged in removing the basket and the driven disk from the flywheel. In this case, it is necessary to hold the driven disk. It should not be damaged or cracked.

      *First, we check whether oil is leaking from the input shaft seal and the rear crankshaft seal. It happens that they leak and grease gets on the disc, this can cause slipping and a feeling of malfunction.

      When you change the clutch, focus on the wear on the flywheel working area: if the value is too high, during installation, the contact plane is uneven. This provokes vibrations when you try to tear down from a place.

      • If the thickness of the friction linings of the driven disk is less than 6 mm, we replace the disk. (fig.4)

      • We check whether the damper springs are securely fixed. (fig.5)

      • If the working areas of the flywheel clamp and the basket show signs of wear and overheating, we eliminate the damaged elements. (fig.6)

      • The riveted connections of the casing and basket parts have loosened - we replace the basket as an assembly. (fig.7)

      • Check diaphragm springs. The place of contact of the petals of the spring with the release bearing ss

      • The seals must be in the same plane and without signs of wear (no more than 0,8 mm). Otherwise, we change the basket assembly. (fig.8)

      • If the connecting links of the casing and the disk have received some kind of deformation, we replace the basket assembly. (fig.9)

      • Further, if the support rings of the pressure spring and the outer one are somehow damaged, we replace them. (fig.10)

      • We check the ease of movement of the driven disk along the splines of the input shaft of the gearbox. If necessary, we eliminate the causes of jamming or defective parts. (Fig. 11)

      • We apply refractory grease to the splines of the hub of the driven disk. (fig.12)

      • If you have already reached the installation of the clutch, then with the help of a mandrel we put the driven disk. And then, the casing of the basket, aligning the marks applied before removing. We screw in the bolts securing the casing to the flywheel.

      • We remove the mandrel and put the gearbox. Let's check if everything works.

      All of the above work is done in the inspection hole of the garage or overpass. It is recommended to change the clutch with the entire set of parts. Even if one component is broken. And you might wonder why. And it's not about the financial side. Changing any one element in the node, after a short period of time, you will again have to climb into the box and replace any elements.

      You need to have the general knowledge and skills of an auto mechanic in order to repair even such an easy-to-maintain Geely MK. There are more conditions at the service station, and for that he is a master, in order to do everything faster, better and consistently. If the replacement goes in the wrong direction, he will determine everything in time and correct it without continuing the assembly. And in the process, additional problems may still appear.
