Replacing the fuel pump grid on Grant

I think it's not worth explaining once again that the device of the fuel pump on Kalina and Grant's cars is not at all different. That is why the whole process of replacing the components of the fuel pump on the above cars will be the same. Also, it is worth noting that when compared with the models of the 10th VAZ family, then there are some points that have differences.

Reasons for Clogged Strainer on Grant

The grid does not have to be changed so often, since when refueling with normal fuel, it can safely retreat more than 100 km. But symptoms may appear that speak of a clogged fuel pump mesh:

• poor engine start
• insufficient pressure in the fuel system
• failures when pressing the gas pedal
• the engine began to slowly gain speed

If you begin to notice the problems described above, then the first thing to do is to look at the mesh filter and replace it if necessary.

The procedure for replacing the grid of a gasoline pump with a Lada Granta

Since the fuel filter on the Lada Granta car is located directly in the tank, it must be removed from there. To do this, one half of the rear seat is reclined, after which the two screws securing the hatch are unscrewed. Underneath is the fuel pump. To extract it, you need to do the following:

1. Relieve pressure in the vehicle power system
2. Disconnect the block with the power wires
3. Disconnect the two fuel pipes from the fuel pump cover
4. Move to the side the retaining ring that fixes the pump in the tank
5. Pulls out the entire module assembly

After that, you can already start removing the strainer without any problems.

 

We slightly set aside three latches - latches, which are clearly shown in the photo below.

Now we move the lower container in order to separate the module, as it were, into two parts, first disconnect the tube, which is shown in the photo.

Now we completely disconnect the two parts of the module.

Now we see full access to the mesh, and it is enough to pry it off with a screwdriver to make it move away from its seat. It may take a little more effort than expected, but it can be removed without too much trouble.

As a result, we get the removed mesh filter, as you can see, is quite heavily contaminated, although in this example we consider a car with a mileage of only 65 km.

Now we take a new mesh and install it in its place in reverse order.

The photo above shows a black rubber plug. Of course, it must be pulled out before installation. Also thoroughly rinse the pump container inside and outside so that no dirt particles and other debris remain on it!

The best way to do this is to use a carburetor or injector cleaner, such as the one shown above. Then you can already assemble the entire structure and install it in the gas tank.

Before starting the engine for the first time, Grants need to pump fuel several times without starting the engine: two or three times of pumping is usually sufficient. Now you can start the engine and check the result of the work done. The mesh should be replaced regularly, as this example shows that even with a small mileage, it is already quite dirty.

The price of a new fuel pump mesh for Grant is about 50-70 rubles.
