Replacing ball joints on a VAZ 2110-2112
Today, the quality of spare parts supplied to stores is quite low, so you have to change the same ball joints almost every six months. On VAZ 2110-2112 cars, the design of these units is completely the same, so the procedure will be completely similar. As for the tools and devices, the list of the necessary things that we need will be given below:
- ball joint puller
- keys 17 and 19
- ratchet wrench
- extension
- a hammer
- mount
- head 17
So, first of all, we will need to raise the part of the car where the ball will be replaced. Then we unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the wheel.
Next, unscrew the lower ball pin fastening nut, as shown in the picture:
Then we take a puller, insert it, as shown in the photo below, and unscrew the bolt, which will do all the work for us:
After the finger pops out of its place in the fist, you can remove the puller and start unscrewing the two support mounting bolts by unscrewing them with a 17 key:
The bolts above are of a new design, so don't pay too much attention to that. When they are unscrewed, it is necessary to move the suspension arm down with a pry bar, or lower the car with a jack, substitute a brick under the brake disc, remove the support from its place:
You can buy new ball valves for VAZ 2110-2112 at a price of around 300 rubles apiece. Be sure to remove the protective rubber band before installing and stuff it well with grease, such as Litol, or similar!
Then the installation can be carried out in the reverse order. Here you will have to suffer a lot, although it is possible that you will do everything quickly. But in any case, the pry bar will have to work a little to bring the holes in the fist under the ball bolts. We tighten all the connections with the required moment of force and you can put the wheel in place and lower the car. After driving a few kilometers, it is advisable to tighten all connections once again completely.
