Replacing the starter on the Niva with your own hands
If the Niva starter malfunctions, when it can no longer be repaired, this device must be replaced with a new one. Carrying out this repair in a garage is quite simple, and for this you only need:
- 10 head with extension and ratchet
- Open-end wrench 13
Before proceeding with the removal of the starter, it is imperative to disconnect the minus terminal from the battery to avoid a short circuit. After that, we take a ratchet handle with an extension cord and a head and, having inserted the resulting “device” under the exhaust manifold, it is necessary to unscrew the nut securing the starter terminals. Roughly everything looks like this:
Then we remove the wires from the hairpin:
Next, you need to unscrew two or three bolts attaching the starter to the Niva gearbox (depending on the device model):
Then you can gently move it aside, and after some manipulations, turning it from side to side, we try to take it out:
The final result of the work is shown in the photo below:
We buy a new starter at a price of 2000 to 3000 rubles and install it in the reverse order.
