Replacing spark plugs on Priore 16 valve

Spark plugs play an important role in engine performance as they directly affect the combustion quality of the fuel. The service interval during which the spark plugs on the Priore 16 valve should be replaced is 30 km.

There are also reasons why a replacement may be needed ahead of schedule:

  • troit the engine;
  • throttle response disappeared;
  • poor engine start;
  • excessive consumption of fuel.

These are only possible reasons, so in order to determine exactly what condition the spark plugs are in, you will need to remove them.

Tools

  • a head for 10 or a head with an asterisk (there are various bolts for attaching the ignition coils);
  • a candle wrench with a 16-inch head and an extension (with rubber inside or a magnet, so that you can pull the candle out of a deep hole);
  • flat screwdriver.

Replacement Algorithm

1 step: Remove the plastic engine protection. To do this, unscrew the oil filler cap, and also in the upper left corner (if you face the motor) remove the plastic latch and remove the protection. After removal, it is better to screw the oil filler cap back to avoid foreign objects or dirt from entering.

2 step: Remove the terminals from the ignition coils.

3 step: It is necessary to unscrew the bolts that secure the ignition coils. Depending on the bolts themselves, this requires either a 10 head or a head with an asterisk.

4 step: Pry on the ignition coil with a flat screwdriver and pull it out.

5 step: Using a spark plug wrench with an extension cord, unscrew the spark plug. By its condition, you can determine if the engine is working properly.

6 step: Screw the new spark plug back in. We insert the ignition coil, screw in the mounting bolt and put on the coil terminal.

Watch the effort. The candle should be easy to twist. A strong tightening can damage the threads and then the entire cylinder head (cylinder head) will need to be repaired, and this is a long and expensive procedure.

Do the same for the rest of the candles and at the end put the plastic engine cover back. Replacing the candles on the Priore 16 valve is completed.

What candles to put on Prioru 16 valves

It is worth noting that the candles for 16 and 8 valve Priora engines are different. Namely, for a 16 valve motor, the diameter of the threaded part of the plug is smaller.

Recommended domestic candles for a 16-valve engine are marked A17DVRM (for the winter it is recommended to put candles marked A15DVRM - a lower glow number allows you to ignite better at negative temperatures).

You can also use foreign counterparts, which will cost a little more than domestic ones:

Questions and answers:

What candles to put on the Priora? For a domestic engine, the following SZ are recommended: AU17, AU15 DVRM, BERU 14FR7DU, Champion RC9YC, NGK BCPR6ES, Denso Q20PR-U11, Brisk DR15YC-1 (DR17YC-1).

When to change the Priora spark plugs? The car manufacturer sets its own maintenance schedule, including the replacement of spark plugs. On the prior, the candles need to be changed after 30 thousand km.

How to change the candles on the Priore 16? The cover is removed from the motor and the power supply chip of the ignition coil (on the candle). The ignition coil is unscrewed and dismantled. Unscrew the spark plug with a spark plug wrench.
