If there is excessive play in the rear axle bearing or if it is damaged, it will be necessary to dismantle it, and if necessary, even replace it. This article will discuss the procedure for removing and installing the rear axle shaft on vehicles such as the VAZ 2101 - 2107. This repair is not particularly difficult and you can do it yourself without any problems. But you will need a lot of tools, namely:
- Jack
- Balloon wrench
- 17 mm head
- Extension
- Crank and ratchet handle
- 12 head and small ratchet (for dismantling drums)
- Penetrating lubricant

So, first of all, you need to remove the rear wheel of the car, having previously raised the car with a jack. Then execute dismantling the rear brake drum... When we have coped with this task, we get approximately the following picture, which is shown in the photo below:
After that, we bring the holes on the flange in such a way that through them the axle fastening nuts are visible:
And using a knob and a 17 head, unscrew these nuts through the holes:
When these two nuts have been unscrewed, it is necessary to turn the flange slightly so that two more appear through the holes:
And unscrew them in the same way as the previous two. After that, you must try to remove the axle shaft from the rear axle housing of the VAZ 2101-2107. To do this, there is a simple, but at the same time, a fairly proven method: you need to turn the wheel over with the inside out and screw it lightly with two bolts:
And with sharp jerks we knock the semi-axle off the splines:
After the axle has moved away, you can unscrew the wheel and finally remove it with your hands:
We replace the bearing or the semiaxis itself, if necessary, and install it in the reverse order. The price of a new part is from 1200 rubles per piece.
