Replacing the rear shock absorbers (struts) on the Grant
Rear shock absorbers or struts, as many call them, run on Grant for quite a long time and are quite reliable suspension units, if not to talk about a frank marriage that sometimes comes across. In reality, the average mileage on the factory struts of the Lada Grants, with regard to the rear suspension, is about 100 km. That is, only after this mileage, more or less noticeable problems begin.
If the struts are dripping or punching them in the pits, you will most likely have to replace the shock absorbers with new ones. This type of repair is not so difficult, so if you have a garage, you can even handle it alone. And for this you need the following tool:
- Two keys for 19: one open end and a ratchet head are possible
- Special wrench for loosening the stem nut
- Key for 17
- Adjustable wrench or 24
- Hammer
- Flat screwdriver
In order not to post dozens of renovated photos, I decided to show everything with a video example, so that everything was clearly shown with a specific example. This type of work was carried out on a car of the tenth family, but there will be practically no difference with the Grant.

From the instructions above, I think everything is clear and understandable. With the skills and the right tools, this work can be done in an hour. Although, if there are problems with unscrewing the lower mounting bolts of the shock absorber, you will have to tinker much longer. Sometimes there are such cases that you have to resort to the help of a grinder to cope with rusted bolts.
I hope that you will not have such problems and everything will go smoothly. As for the price of new racks for Grants, a set of rear SAAZ production can cost you about 2000 rubles.
