Replacing the rear struts with a VAZ 2114
Although the rear pillars on the VAZ 2114 wear out much more slowly than the front ones, every owner will probably have to change them sooner or later. With a good scenario, careful operation and a low car load, they are quite capable of moving more than 200 km away.
If the racks began to knock, then most likely oil has already begun to leak out of them and they need to be replaced. You can do this yourself without much effort. But first of all, you need to prepare all the tools that you need for repair:
- Pry bar
- Keys 17 and 19
- Ratchet and crank
- Special wrench to keep the strut stem from turning
- Penetrating grease

Everything is shown using the example of the tenth family, but in fact, there is absolutely no difference, since the rear suspension device is completely similar.
As you can see, there shouldn't be any special difficulties. The only thing that can strain is unscrewing the upper nut of the rack stem, since during long-term operation everything there rusts and even with the help of special. unscrewing everything can be very problematic.
Below, problems can also arise, but there is a classic bolt-to-nut connection, so with a sufficiently long lever on the wrench, you can handle it.
To remove the lower part from the beam, you can pry it with a pry bar, as shown more clearly in the photo below.
Now the stand assembly with the spring is removed.
Regarding the choice of rear struts on the VAZ 2114, I would personally advise using only factory versions, or standard lengths without differences from the factory design. If, nevertheless, you decide to underestimate the rear of the car, then the shortened springs should be used in tandem only with shortened struts.
Regarding the price, we can say the following: rear struts can be bought from 1000 rubles apiece, and more expensive options, such as the SS20, are certainly more expensive, and you will have to pay at least 2000 rubles for one shock absorber.
