Replacing the rear brake pads on the VAZ 2107, 2105, 2106

The rear brake pads on the VAZ 2107 do not change so often and on many cars the owners do not know the problems for the first 80 km after buying a car. But if you bought low-quality components, then it is possible that after 000-15 thousand you will have to change them due to the increased wear of both the pads themselves and the brake drums.

To complete the replacement procedure, you will need the following tool:

  • Pliers
  • Long nose pliers
  • Flat and Phillips screwdriver

So, before starting work, you need to jack up the rear of the car, remove the wheel and brake drum. After that, the following picture opens up to us:

The first step is to release the bottom spring. To do this is quite simple, just pry it and pull it down with a screwdriver, as shown in the photo below:

Next, you can take the “cotter pins” that fix the block with pliers and turn them so that they coincide with the slots in the washer.

We carry out the same procedure with the second side. Then we straighten and pull out the cotter pin with pliers that holds the parking brake lever:

Now you can press with a certain force on the upper spring with a flat screwdriver so that it pops off:

Now it remains to remove the hand brake lever and you're done. Then we buy new rear pads and replace them. Their price is about 400 rubles. It will be a little more complicated with the installation, since you will have to tighten the springs, but in an hour you can completely cope with both sides. And one more thing: do not forget to loosen the parking brake cable before installing the new pads, since then the brake drums simply may not get dressed.
