Replacing the ignition switch on the Priore
The ignition lock on Lada Priora cars is a fairly reliable design and, under normal operation, will last a very long time, up to 10 years or even more. But if the lock is out of order, or even worse - the key is broken in it, then its complete replacement will be required. Of course, this procedure is not as simple as on the VAZ “classic” models, but with experience and a tool, everything can be done in half an hour.
So, we need a tool such as:
- Sharp and narrow chisel
- Hammer
- Phillips screwdriver
- Head 10
- Ratchet and small extension
Diy instructions for removing and installing the ignition lock on the Priore
The first step is to unscrew and remove the steering column cover. This process is quite simple and you only need a Phillips screwdriver. When you have coped with this, you can proceed further.
Since the ignition switch on the Priora is installed on special bolts with tear-off caps, it is impossible to unscrew them with a regular key. This is done for security purposes to prevent unauthorized access to your vehicle.
And you will have to unscrew it with a chisel, as is clearly shown in the photo below:
When all the caps are torn off, you can finally unscrew them by hand or using long-nose pliers.
When all the bolts are unscrewed to the end, you can carefully remove the clamp and the lock itself.
Ultimately, we need one more action - to disconnect the plug with the power wires from the lock.
And now it's worth saying a few words about the installation. Since the caps are detachable, it is necessary to tighten each bolt with a certain effort so that they come off.
As a result, we get the following picture:
All 4 bolts must be tightened in the same way. We connect the plug to its place and you can put the cover in place. The price of a new castle is about 1000 rubles. For installation on the service, they can take another 500 rubles from you, so it's better to change everything with your own hands.
