Frozen wipers
Attempting to start frozen wipers can damage the wipers, scratch the windshield, or ignite the engine.
One of the activities that we do in the mornings during the winter season is "wiping" the windows. It is also necessary to check the wipers for the presence of frozen objects. Attempting to start frozen ones can damage the feathers, scratch the glass, or ignite the engine.
Owners of cars with heated windshields do not have such problems. Unfortunately, most drivers do not have these facilities and are forced to defrost their windshield and wipers themselves. 
Of course, we do not limit ourselves to just cleaning a small piece of glass, but we defrost the entire facade and everything else. Windows are most conveniently cleared of ice with an anti-icer. You can also use a scraper, but then it is very easy to scratch the glass. To minimize this risk, keep the glass clean, as frozen sand particles can scratch the glass when scraped off. It is best to use a scraper for this purpose, and not, for example, a CD case, cassette or other similar object that is not suitable for this purpose. Crazy pouring hot water on a frozen glass. Such express defrosting will necessarily end with glass breaking.
Even in severe frosts, you should not immediately direct a strong and hot air supply to cold glass, because the stresses that arise then can lead to its breakage. Best 
immediately, after starting a cold engine, direct the air flow to the windshield, since gradual heating does not cause large loads.
If there is damage to the glass, such as from stones, it should be repaired as soon as possible, as water getting inside will quickly increase the damage and weaken the glass significantly.
When defrosting the glass, it is also necessary to check that the wipers do not freeze, even when warm air is already blowing on the glass. In many cars, the airflow is over the feathers, so they can still get iced up. And running frozen wipers can cost us dearly. We will be very lucky if we damage only the wiper rubber, which can be replaced at a low price (from 10 to 70 PLN). But when the rubber bands get very cold, the nib can break, and the remaining metal will scratch the glass, and it may not be possible to repair it. Frozen wipers can also damage the engine if not turned off quickly. After all, we may not remember the wipers from the previous day.
Therefore, in vehicles with a rain sensor, do not leave the wiper control in the "auto" position. However, on some models, this feature remains active all the time.
