Refueling a car with hydrogen. How to use a distributor? (video)

Refueling a car with hydrogen. How to use a distributor? (video) In Poland, public distributors specialized in hydrogen-powered vehicles are only at the planning stage. The first two stations with this capability should be built in Warsaw and the Tricity. Therefore, for now, to see how it works, you will have to go to Germany.

First impression? The gun is much heavier than those used in gasoline or diesel stations, it takes a little longer to fill the tank, and hydrogen is filled not by liters, but by kilograms. Moreover, the differences are minor.

To use a distributor, you must use a special card, which is ordered in advance. It works like a credit card.

To avoid any possible mistakes that the user may make during this procedure, many different security measures have been implemented. The injector at the end of the dispenser has a mechanical lock to ensure a perfect connection to the vehicle's fuel inlet. If the lock is not closed properly, refueling will not start. Pressure sensors detect the smallest leaks at the junction of the fuel dispenser and inlet, which stop filling when a malfunction is detected. Pumping speed is strictly controlled to avoid dangerous temperature rise.

The refueling process takes about three minutes. Price per kilo? In Germany, 9,5 euros.
