Prohibition signs

Road signs (in accordance with GOST R 52289-2019 and GOST R 52290-2004)

Road prohibition signs introduce or cancel certain traffic restrictions.

Prohibition road signs are installed directly in front of road sections where restrictions have been introduced or lifted.

Introductory section (type, shape and area of ​​prohibition signs) - Prohibition road signs.

3.1 "No entry". The entry of all vehicles in this direction is prohibited.

Sign 3.1 "Entry prohibited" can be used on one-way roads to prevent oncoming traffic and organize entry and exit from adjacent territories.

Sign 3.1 with plate 8.14 "Lane" can be used to prohibit entry into certain lanes.

If such a sign does not allow you to drive to the desired place, then there is probably another access to this place (from the opposite side of the road or from side driveways).

3.2 "Prohibited traffic". Vehicles of all kinds are prohibited.

3.3 "Prohibition on the movement of vehicles."

3.4 "Heavy trucks are prohibited." The movement of trucks and combinations of vehicles with a maximum authorized mass of more than 3,5 tons (if the mass is not indicated on the sign) or with a maximum authorized mass exceeding that indicated on the sign, as well as tractors and self-propelled machines, is prohibited. Sign 3.4 does not prohibit the movement of trucks intended for the carriage of passengers, vehicles of the federal postal service with a white diagonal stripe on the side surface with a blue background, as well as trucks without trailers with a maximum permitted weight. In these cases, vehicles must enter and exit from designated area at the nearest intersection to the destination.

From January 1, 2015, sign 3.4 does not apply to trucks serving enterprises in a dedicated area. In this case, the truck must be without a trailer and have a maximum authorized gross weight of 26 tonnes.

In addition, trucks may only enter under sign 3.4 at the nearest intersection.

3.5 "Motorcycles are prohibited."

3.6 "Movement of tractors is prohibited." The movement of tractors and self-propelled vehicles is prohibited.

3.7 "Moving with a trailer is prohibited." It is forbidden to drive trucks and tractors with trailers of any kind, as well as towing mechanical vehicles.

3.8 "Driving a vehicle drawn by horses is prohibited." It is forbidden to drive vehicles drawn by animals (sledges), horse and pack animals and drive away livestock.

3.9 "Biking is prohibited." The movement of bicycles and mopeds is prohibited.

3.10 No pedestrians allowed.

3.11 "Weight limit". The movement of vehicles, including combinations of vehicles, with a total actual mass exceeding that indicated on the sign is prohibited.

Sign 3.11 is installed in front of engineering structures with limited carrying capacity (bridges, viaducts, etc.).

Movement is allowed if the actual mass of the vehicle (or combination of vehicles) is less than or equal to the value indicated on sign 3.11.

3.12 "Limiting the mass of the axle of the vehicle." The movement of vehicles whose actual weight on any axle exceeds that indicated on the sign is prohibited.

The distribution of the load on the axles of the vehicle (trailer) is set by the manufacturer.

For the purposes of determining this road load (depending on the total actual weight of the vehicle), it is usually assumed that a passenger car and a three-axle truck have approximately equal weight distribution between the axles, and a two-axle truck has 1/3 of the actual weight on the front axle and 2/3 actual weight on the rear axle.

3.13 "Height limitation". It is forbidden to drive vehicles whose total height (laden or unladen) exceeds that indicated on the sign.

3.14 "Width limit". The movement of vehicles with an overall width (when loaded or unloaded) exceeding that indicated on the sign is prohibited.

3.15 "Length limit". The movement of vehicles (combinations of vehicles) whose total length (when loaded or unloaded) exceeds that indicated on the sign is prohibited.

3.16 "Minimum distance limitation". Vehicles are prohibited from driving for a distance less than indicated on the sign.

3.17.1 'Obligation'. It is prohibited to move without stopping at the customs (control) point.

3.17.2 "No danger". Without exception, all vehicles are prohibited from continuing to move due to a breakdown, accident, fire or other danger.

3.17.3 'Control'. It is forbidden to pass through traffic control points without stopping.

3.18.1 "Do not turn right."

3.18.2 "Do not turn left".

Signs 3.18.1 and 3.18.2 are used at the intersection of the carriageway in front of which the sign is installed. Turning in the area of ​​sign 3.18.2 is not prohibited (if it is technically possible and if there are no other restrictions on turning).

3.19 "No turn".

Signs 3.18.1, 3.18.2 and 3.19 only prohibit what is shown on them.

No left turn sign does not prohibit a left turn maneuver for those traveling in the opposite direction. No left turn sign does not prohibit a left turn.

3.20 "Overtaking prohibited". It is forbidden to overtake all vehicles, except for slow-moving vehicles, carts drawn by animals, mopeds and two-wheeled motorcycles without a sidecar.

The action of the sign prohibiting overtaking extends from the place where the sign is installed to the nearest intersection behind it, and in the built-up area, if there is no intersection, to the end of the built-up area.

3.21 "End of no-overtaking zone".
3.22 "Overtaking prohibited for trucks." Overtaking trucks is prohibited for all vehicles with a gross weight of more than 3,5 tons.

3.23 "End of zone prohibited for overtaking trucks".

Signs 3.21 "End of the zone prohibited for overtaking trucks" and 3.23 "End of the zone prohibited for overtaking trucks" indicate a place on the road from which the ban on overtaking is lifted. Additional information: see the article Prohibiting road signs 3.20 - 3.23.

3.24 "Maximum speed limit". It is forbidden to drive at a speed (km/h) exceeding that indicated on the sign.

3.25 "End of maximum speed limit zone."

3.26 "Audible signal is prohibited." The use of audible signals is prohibited, except when the signal is given to prevent an accident.

The No Horning sign should only be used outside built-up areas. It allows you to give an audible signal only in one case - to prevent an accident.

3.27 "Stopping prohibited." Stopping and parking of vehicles is prohibited.

The only types of vehicles not covered by the No Stopping sign are minibuses and taxis, which are allowed to stop at designated stops and parking areas, respectively, within the sign's area.

3.28 "Parking prohibited." Parking of vehicles is prohibited.

Stopping is permitted within the area covered by the “No Parking” sign (see section 1.2 of the Highway Code, the terms “Stopping” and “Parking”).

3.29 "Parking is prohibited on odd days of the month."
3.30 "Parking is prohibited on even days of the month." If signs 3.29 and 3.30 are used simultaneously on opposite sides of the roadway, parking is allowed on both sides of the roadway from 7 am to 9 pm (time change).

Parking is not prohibited in the area of ​​signs 3.29 and 3.30.

3.31 "End of all restricted areas." Designation of the end of the zone by several signs from the following at the same time: 3.16, 3.20, 3.22, 3.24, 3.26 - 3.30.

3.32 "Vehicles carrying dangerous goods are prohibited." Vehicles with identification marks (plates) "Dangerous Goods" are prohibited.

3.33 "The movement of vehicles with explosive and flammable materials is prohibited." The movement of vehicles carrying explosives and articles and other dangerous goods to be marked as flammable is prohibited, unless such dangerous goods and articles are transported in limited quantities determined in accordance with the Special Transport Regulations.

Signs 3.2 - 3.9, 3.32 and 3.33 prohibit the movement of the respective types of vehicles in both directions.

The marks do not apply to:

  • 3.1 - 3.3, 3.18.1, 3.18.2, 3.19 - for route vehicles;
  • 3.2, 3.3, 3.5 - 3.8 - for vehicles of federal postal organizations with a white diagonal stripe on a blue background on the side surface, and vehicles serving enterprises located in a designated area, as well as serving citizens or belonging to citizens living or working in the designated area. In such cases, vehicles must enter and leave the designated area at the intersection closest to their destination;
  • 3.28 - 3.30 for vehicles driven by disabled people and transporting disabled people, including disabled children, if such vehicles have an identification sign "Disabled", as well as vehicles of federal postal organizations that have a white diagonal stripe on the side on a blue background, and taxis with illuminated taximeter;
  • 3.2, 3.3 - on vehicles driven by disabled people of groups I and II, carrying such disabled people or disabled children, if these vehicles have an identification plate "Disabled" for wheelchairs
  • 3.27. on the movement of vehicles and vehicles used as taxis, in parking lots for the movement of vehicles or vehicles used as taxis, marked with signs 1.17 and (or) signs 5.16 - 5.18, respectively.

The effect of signs 3.18.1, 3.18.2 applies to the intersection of carriageways in front of which the sign is installed.

The effect of signs 3.16, 3.20, 3.22, 3.24, 3.26 - 3.30 applies to the territory from the place where the sign was installed to the nearest intersection behind it, and in buildings without an intersection - until the end of the building. The action of signs is not interrupted at exits from adjacent territories and at intersections (junctions) with field, forest and other minor roads, in front of which there are no corresponding signs.

Sign 3.24, installed in front of a built-up area, which is specified in 5.23.1 or 5.23.2, is applied within the scope of this sign.

The area occupied by signs can be reduced:

  • For signs 3.16 and 3.26 using plate 8.2.1;
  • For signs 3.20, 3.22, 3.24, the zone of influence of signs 3.21, 3.23, 3.25 must be reduced or plate 8.2.1 must be applied. The zone of influence of signs 3.24 can be reduced by setting the sign 3.24 with a different value of the maximum speed;
  • For signs 3.27 - 3.30, repeat signs 3.27 - 3.30 with sign 8.2.3 or use sign 8.2.2 at the end of their coverage area. Sign 3.27 can be used in conjunction with group markings 1.4, and 3.28 - with group markings 1.10, in which case the zone of influence of the signs is determined by the length of the group marking.

The effect of signs 3.10, 3.27 - 3.30 applies only to the side of the road on which they are installed.
