Charging points for electric vehicles are an integral part of the road landscape

Charging electric vehicles Warsaw, Krakow and other cities of our country

Electric vehicle charging points are increasingly becoming part of the road landscape. Just a few years ago, Poland was a desert when it comes to accessing chargers. Now this has changed, and if the pace of development continues, you will soon be able to use several thousand public charging points.

Electric vehicle charging points in Warsaw, Krakow and other major cities are now publicly available. You will reach them without any problems. But will this be enough in the future? What about small towns? Will charging stations appear in our country and outside the largest agglomerations? It all depends on whether electric vehicles will gain popularity. If global green car trends reach Polish drivers, it may turn out that much more such charging points will be needed. Then you will find charging stations for electric vehicles in Krakow, Warsaw, Poznań and many smaller cities!

The number of charging stations in our country is growing

According to data provided by the Polish Association of Alternative Fuels, in August 2020 there were 826 charging stations for electric vehicles in the country. This is the number of standard power points. As for charging stations in our country of high power, i.e. above 22 kW, then this month there were 398 of them. The number of charging points for electric vehicles is constantly increasing. This is due to the fact that other operators, as well as fuel and energy concerns, are trying to follow market trends. It is also about complying with the provisions of the Electric Vehicles Act. Therefore, more charging points for electric vehicles are planned. As a result, the number of charging stations for electric vehicles in Krakow and other major cities will increase. Probably, in the near future points will appear even in county towns and at almost every gas station.

Ambitious plans to develop a network of electric vehicle charging stations

The plans related to the development of such investments are really ambitious. Thanks to this, prices at car charging stations should be lower. Other public battery charging points are realized investments, for example. large corporations such as:

  • GE;
  • PKN Orlen;
  • lotus;
  • Tauron;
  • Innogi Poland;
  • foreign companies such as Greenway.

Currently, the network of electric vehicle charging points is so developed that, according to statistics, there are 5 cars per charging station. The average for the European Community is 8 cars. It turns out that the market for this type of vehicle has not kept pace with the rather large increase in the growth of electric vehicle charging points. The number of all-electric vehicles on Polish roads is only 7. This figure is not very impressive.

EV Charging Point Compatibility

From the point of view of the owner of an electric car, it will be equally important whether paid or free charging stations for electric vehicles are equipped with the appropriate sockets. They must be able to drive all types of electric vehicles. Currently, the most popular plugins will be labeled as follows:

  • CHADEMO;
  • Combination CSS 2;
  • Tesla charger.

Chargers vary in power, voltage and current. This, in turn, affects the charging time and the cost of the service. Price is becoming more and more important to users. This is due to the dynamic development of infrastructure and the reduction in the number of free charging stations for electric vehicles in our country.

How much does it cost to charge electric vehicles?

Prices at charging stations for electric vehicles in our country depend mainly on electricity tariffs in a particular place. The capacity of the cells also has an effect if you want to fill them completely. If we assume that the average charge for charging from a household socket is PLN 50 per 1 kWh, with a small car consuming about 15 kWh per 100 km, then the fare for such a distance will be about PLN 7,5, depending on the operator's tariff.

Whether you want to use the service of an electric vehicle charging station in the city or charge your car on the road using a so-called fast charger, a 15 kWh energy supply will cost up to 4 times more. You can find a free charging point. Then read the rules carefully. Sometimes electricity will be free, but you will pay for parking.

Electric vehicles are a rapidly growing automotive trend. Although there are still relatively few of them on Polish roads, there are more and more charging points, especially in large cities.
