Winter chores behind the wheel When it's cold, we're most likely to experience battery issues, but we rarely check before winter, according to a Link4 insurance barometer survey.

In the next edition of the survey on the behavior of drivers in Poland, Link4 checked how they are preparing for the winter. Winter chores behind the wheelThe vast majority, but not all, change to winter tires (81%). Some adjust the washer fluid to the prevailing temperatures - 60% do this, and 31% buy winter accessories (defroster, scraper, chains).

While most battery problems occur in the winter, only one in four check their condition before this time of year. However, so that the battery does not run out in winter, drivers use simple “tricks”. Almost half (45%) turn off the lights before turning off the engine, and 26% also turn off the radio. On the other hand, 6% take the battery home overnight.

Among the other most frequently cited winterization activities, drivers mentioned oil changes (19%), lighting checks (17%), service checks (12%) and cabin filter changes (6%).

What are the most common car problems in winter?

In addition to problems with the battery, drivers most often complain about freezing of locks (36%) and liquids (19%), engine failure (15%), skidding (13%) and car flooding (12%).

According to Europ Assistance Polska, the most common road assistance insurance interventions are towing services (58% of cases), on-site repairs (23%) and replacement car arrangements (16%), says Joanna Nadzikiewicz, Sales Director of Europ Assistance Polska .
