Winter tires

The driver does not need to be convinced that winter tires significantly increase the safety and comfort of driving on snow and ice. It is worth remembering what the characteristics of such tires are.

Autumn fluff should remind us of replacing summer tires with winter ones.

What are you eating?

An extremely important element of the design of such a tire is a special rubber compound, the properties of which allow to optimize its flexibility and grip on the ground. When the average daytime temperature falls below 7°C and the night temperature falls below 0°C, summer tires should be replaced with winter ones. Do not wait for snowfall, because the properties of summer tires are not able to prevent skidding on a frosty road, for example, in the morning. Summer tires made from carbon black synthetic rubber perform well on dry and wet surfaces, when the temperature does not drop below 0 degrees C. Below this temperature, they become stiff and lose elasticity. Winter tires, thanks to a larger amount of natural rubber mixed with silicone and a slightly different structure, “eat” better into the snow and get rid of it faster. As a result, tires run on clean, snow-free surfaces.

An important element of winter tires is their tread. Asymmetric treads are very popular. The inner part of the tire with such a tread wicks away mud, snow and water well, while the outer part retains traction and cornering stability. Another type of tread, directional herringbone, is excellent at pushing the mucus out from under the wheel and thus ensuring full contact of the tire with the road.

An important feature of winter tires are sipes, that is, notches on the tread surface. They act like suction cups and increase the tire's longitudinal grip.

Only individually

- We select tires individually, depending on the model of the car and the requirements of the driver. For example, I will say that it is better to equip high-powered cars with tires with an asymmetric tread. Tire size is also important when choosing a tire. For many customers, the priority when choosing tires is their price, - told us the representative of Centrogum, a point of sale and replacement of tires.

Prices for winter tires depend on their type, size and, of course, the manufacturer. Tires produced by Dębica and Olsztyn are the most popular on our market.
