Winter commandments of the driver. You must remember this (video)

Winter commandments of the driver. You must remember this (video) Adapting your driving style to the weather is one of the basic principles that drivers must follow. Checking the forecast before the planned trip will allow us to better prepare for driving and avoid dangerous situations on the road. Especially in winter, when you can expect snowfall, frost and ice-covered surfaces.

– In winter, every driver must not only adequately respond to weather conditions, but also be prepared for them. – By checking the weather forecast before departure, we can prepare in advance for frost, precipitation, gusty winds or snowstorms. In this way, we can minimize the risk of an impact or crash and avoid vehicle problems such as a dead battery or frozen wipers,” said Zbigniew Veseli, director of the Renault Safe Driving School.

The most important rule when driving in difficult weather conditions is to select the speed according to the surface condition. In winter, keep an appropriate distance from the vehicle in front, remembering that the braking distance on an icy surface is several times longer than on a dry one. Driving carefully and carefully means a longer journey, so let's plan more time to get to our destination safely. In case of very difficult conditions, such as a snowstorm, it is worth pausing the trip or, if you are already on your way, stop until the weather improves.

Trainers of the Jada Renault Safety School give advice on how to plan your winter trip:

1. Plan your route and travel time. If we're going far, let's check the forecast for the regions we'll be traveling through at certain times of the day.

2. Check if we take with us the necessary assortment - winter windshield washer fluid, brush, windshield wiper, de-icer. They can come in handy during severe frosts and snowfall.

3. Take more time before your trip to thoroughly clear windows, mirrors and roof of snow. Also remember to use winter washer fluid.
