The British company ZipCharge has presented a power bank on wheels, an energy storage device that allows recharging "up to 32 kilometers of range" in 30-60 minutes. The device is called ZipCharge Go, its creators did not want to disclose either its capacity or the final price of the device. The latter is estimated at several thousand zlotys.

The startup claims the power bank weighs "about 50 pounds" or 22,7 kilograms. So this is not the equivalent of carry-on luggage, unless someone is selling irons on the doorstep. The company's declared range ("up to 32 kilometers") shows that the ZipCharge Go can accommodate about 4-5 kWh of energy. Maybe a little less (3,5-4 kWh) if this range is calculated for the urban cycle.

The device works just like any other power bank: connected to the car via a type 2 socket, it gives it energy. Charging is expected to take between 30 minutes and 1 hour. To charge your ZipCharge Go, simply plug it into a classic wall outlet. The price of the device was not disclosed, the manufacturer claims that it will cost about the same as buying and installing a wall-mounted charging station - in Poland this will be from a few to about ten thousand zlotys. Equipment can also be leased/on a fixed-term lease basis.

ZipCharge indicates that it wants to bring to the market a version with a higher capacity that could increase the range to 64 kilometers. Such a block would make sense under some circumstances, although it is difficult to imagine a person regularly carrying a "suitcase" weighing more than 45 kilograms in the trunk. The device will start shipping in 2022.
