When Henry Ford became successful in the US, he began to expand overseas. One of the largest investments was the construction of a factory in Brentwood, England, which began in 1909.

The first Ford car left the factory on October 23, 1911, but the brand was known from the very beginning of its operation. The first Ford was sold in the British Isles as early as 1903. In subsequent years, several hundred cars were sold annually. The Ford T, built in England, allowed the price to drop and thus scale up. The Ford T soon took over 30 percent of the market.

The venture proved successful and the American brand invested in more factories, becoming one of the most important players in the UK.
