In Zheran, work began on the design of a middle-class car that could replace the models produced at that time. This is how the Wars concept was born - after the Syrena, the second post-war passenger car developed in Poland.

The Voin featured a modern five-door silhouette, in which one can find similarities with the Opel Kadett introduced in 1979. It was a small, functional and economical car equipped with 1.1 and 1.3 engines. Design work began in 1981 and two prototypes were shown on 24 October 1986.

The FSO never put Wars into production, which was mainly due to too high implementation costs. Instead, the FSO 1991p was produced until 125 and the Polonaise was produced ten years longer.
