5 trendy makeup looks for Valentine's Day

Valentine's card is designed to cheer us up and emphasize all our virtues. If we don't like full makeup, we can focus on one accent or try to go a little crazy. Maybe Valentine's Day is a good opportunity to deepen your relationship with cosmetics?

Glitter dizzy

Strong glitter in makeup may be associated with New Year's styling, but it really suits any occasion - it all depends on how much and where we put glitter. We can decide to add shimmery bits to the eyelids – as a change to classic smoky eyes or to highlight the inner corner or lower eyelid. There are no limits when it comes to the color of glitter or foil eyeshadow, but keep in mind that they come in a wide variety of shapes. Most popular:

  • Pressed glitters - most often we find them in palettes containing several or a dozen color options, but if we do not use this form too often, look for one shade of glitter. A good compressed glitter should have a soft formula and be easy to transfer from the applicator to the skin, and also not be too coarse.
  • Loose glitter pigments - some give the effect of a shiny surface (look good even without a color base), others are just finely crushed pieces of glitter. The latter should be applied to matte or foil shadows as an addition, so that you will not see gaps on the eyelid.
  • Cream-gel, glitter shadows - they can be the basis for other glosses or decorate our eyelids on their own. They come in the form of a mass, closed in a jar or package with an applicator similar to that of a lip gloss.

No matter what type of glitter eyeshadow you choose, apply it over the right foundation. Glitter Glue Makeup Revolution works very well because it doesn't dissolve other shadows and guarantees long-lasting make-up wear. In addition, you do not feel it on your eyelid - you should have it in your cosmetic bag. For more tips on applying glitter formulas, see How to apply glitter eyeshadow?

Seductive red lips

Red lipstick is an unusual cosmetic product. It suits many types of beauty and can add character to even a modest style. When deciding to use red lipstick for a romantic makeover for Valentine's Day, remember that there are many shades and finishes. We can go for a slightly muted tone, opt for a warmer, brick red option, or settle for a versatile, juicy red that will optically enlarge our lips and whiten our teeth.

After choosing a color, let's focus on the formula - think, do we prefer matte or glossy? The first option can be more durable, because liquid matte lipsticks usually last longer on the lips than lip gloss or nail polish.

Romantic smoky eyes

A smoky eyelid and a mysterious look are a great choice for a romantic evening. An eye drawn using the smoky eyes technique takes on a cat-like shape and appears larger. All thanks to the location of the shadows:

  • In the crease of the eyelid, add a little neutral color - it can be light, cold brown. We rub on the outside, trying to blend the formula evenly. Point the brush just above the crease, towards the brow bone. This will visually draw us the outer corner.
  • We darken the transitional shade with black, dark blue or some other dark shade. We concentrate it on the outside and also try to blend it diagonally upwards. We use a very small amount of pigment - it is better to add it in the process than to make a black spot.
  • In the inner corner we apply a light shade - you can even with shiny particles. Feathering go to the center of the eyelid and connect the rest of the colors.

The key to success is to correctly shade the borders of a dark shade - it’s worth doing it with a matte beige shade - and recreate the shading in the minimum version on the lower eyelid. It should match what we managed to draw from above. An interesting idea is to add a small color element to the classic smoky eyes: the glitter cloud mentioned earlier, a colored line or an accent on the lower eyelid.

The perfect swallow

A correctly drawn line on the upper eyelid optically lifts the eye and thickens the lash line. If we don't have drawing experience, let's try a few before our date.

A good way to quickly draw a neat swallow is to do it ... in one motion. After drawing a line along the eyelashes (it should thicken a little towards the outer end), draw one thin line that will be a natural extension of the lower eyelid. Then, in one swift motion, complete it above. We should get the effect of an even triangular shape.

Before choosing the perfect eyeliner, let's get acquainted with its most popular forms:

  • Eyeliner in a pen - should have an accurate tip that will allow you to accurately draw a line and apply pigment to the same extent as other markers. Some models are structured to allow the swallow shape to be imprinted on the eyelid, but I have the impression that trying to reflect the marker evenly is more difficult than drawing a simple line.
  • Liquid eyeliner - a bit like an inkwell with a feather. Dampen the brush with the formula, and then apply the cosmetic product to the eyelid. These eyeliners will most likely have a hardening, deep black consistency, but may leave a slightly shiny finish.
  • Eyeliner in lipstick or gel - this product is somewhat similar to eyebrow lipstick, but has completely different properties. We apply the formula with a brush with a thin and sharp tip. Eyeliners are usually very long-wearing, but can tend to dissolve shadows - I recommend being careful.

If you want to paint your lines with eye shadow or loose pigments, be sure to use a very precise brush and a cosmetic formula that will allow you to build up. My personal hit Duraline from the Inglot brand can also help. Any loose product after adding a drop will turn into a liquid consistency. An important tip before using this fixing fluid is not to drip it directly into the shade, but onto a clean and smooth surface. Due to the fixative components of Duraline, eyeshadows can become hard or lose pigmentation.

Glow effect on a date and more

A radiant complexion is a trend that has recently won the hearts of makeup lovers. This is very easy to achieve and looks amazing, especially by candlelight or in direct sunlight. We can achieve this with:

  • The brightening base is applied under the foundation.
  • Add a few drops of liquid highlighter to your foundation.
  • A large amount of powder formula with particles or surface effect,
  • A fixing spray with glitter particles.

If we want to achieve a very strong effect, we can do all the steps, but one step will make our face radiant. An interesting idea is to apply highlighter also on the neck, décolleté and shoulders.

Each of the above ideas is a really versatile way of doing makeup that will look beautiful not only on a date. You can try to combine all these elements and see how you feel in full styling or choose one way to emphasize your beauty.
