Testing vegan Herbapol cosmetics

We present you three series of the company's cosmetics, which are associated with the world of tastes and aromas. Herbapol has been specializing in the production of herbal products: teas and syrups for more than 70 years. He recently launched the Polana cosmetics brand. Will their skin care products prove to be just as valuable? We checked it!

Testing the effectiveness of vegan and natural cosmetics is an extremely enjoyable experience. The knowledge that no animal was involved in the trials cannot be overstated. It is also worth noting that most of Polana's product packaging does not use cellophane or plastic - only FSC Mix paper, glass, sugarcane ecopolymers and recycled polyesters (rPET).

Red line Herbapol Polana Rejuvenation

The anti-aging series was created for people who need intensively smoothing cosmetics. In the composition of the products of this line you will find, among other things:

• Mac Lekarski,
• Red clover,
• thyme,
• chamomile.

These active ingredients have a strong anti-wrinkle effect: they soothe irritations, increase elasticity and firm the skin. In addition, daisy also has brightening and soothing properties.

Polana Rejuvenation micellar water was among the beauty products we tested. Let's start our assessment with the fragrance - it is delicate, floral and very natural. Persistence is short-lived, but the point is in the origin of the aroma - plant extracts were used instead of fragrances. Apply the formula to a cotton pad and spread over the face. Makeup dissolves easily on contact with liquid - you can even completely wash off mascara and shadows. For this, a very small amount of the drug was enough - which means that it is very effective. It says on the packaging that it is 98,8% natural and it absolutely feels on the skin. It is firm, noticeably brightened, there are no irritations on it.

After cleansing the skin with tonic, we proceed to apply oily serum from the anti-aging series. Looks great in a glass bottle! You can see flakes of opium poppy, comfrey and milk thistle immersed in it. Thanks to the pipette, it is very easy to apply the right amount of cosmetic product. As for the aroma, it is a little stronger than in the case of micellar liquid, but still the aroma is unobtrusive and very natural. After the massage of the formula, you will immediately feel how your skin tightens. It is also covered with a greasy film, but this is exactly what the serum should be. This product contains 94,7% natural ingredients. 

Yellow line Herbapol Polana Revitalization

The revitalizing series is the answer to the needs of people who care about deep hydration, brightening and regeneration of tired skin. The active ingredients of the products of this line are, in particular, extracts from:

• malvi,
• chamomile,
• black cumin.

Their properties are to brighten and improve color, while moisturizing and smoothing.

We first test Polana Revitalization Oil Serum, which contains 94,7% natural extracts. Like the product of the Rejuvenation series, it is packaged in a glass bottle that reveals all the beauty of the contents - this time it is beautiful and yellow flakes. Applying cosmetics is simple, we use a few drops more than recommended by the manufacturer, and this gives the best effect - the whole face is evenly covered. However, the serum lasts for a long time. The scent dissipates quickly, but is very pleasant and floral. After a few days of using the night serum instead of the usual cream, the first changes are already visible. Skin is visibly brighter and calmer. It has not lost moisture - it is flexible and soft.

The second product we reviewed was Polana Revitalization Antioxidant Cream Serum. The active ingredients here are extracts of chamomile, burdock and immortelle. The cosmetic has a less intense fragrance and is quickly absorbed. It does not give such a spectacular effect as its oil counterpart, but works well under makeup, as it does not leave a film.

The use of these two cosmetics in complex care definitely has a positive effect on the skin - the effect achieved through night care with oil would probably not be so obvious if it were not for a daily dose of brightening.

Blue line Herbapol Polana Moisturizing

We have the most cosmetics from the moisturizing series, and this is a great opportunity to look at the effect of a complete care. The line was created for skin that requires control of sebum, and it turns out that its overproduction is not only for oily or combination skin. Such support may be needed even for people prone to drying out or bursting of blood vessels, especially after contact with adverse weather conditions.

Active ingredients that dominate the moisturizing line:

• savory blavatek,
• flax
• cucumber,
• sunflower flower.

Extracts from the above plants help retain moisture in the skin and prevent flaking of the epidermis.

Our first step is to test the Glade Moisturizing Cream facial cleansing oil. It will have a difficult task to cleanse the skin, adorned with strong and complete make-up. Two pushups at the start and after a dozen or so seconds you know the fluid is working very well. Upon contact with warm water, the formula emulsifies and completely dissolves foundation, shadows and… waterproof mascara. The process of facial massage with cosmetics is very pleasant. The smell is not irritating, after rinsing it is barely perceptible. On the packaging, among the images of beautiful flowers, we find information that butter contains as much as 98,5% natural extracts. Good result!

After cleansing, apply Glade Moisture Oil Serum. Here we find 94,7% ingredients of natural origin, including extracts from:

• thyme,
• evening primrose,
• scents.

What can you expect from the above excerpts? Mostly hydration and elasticity, although our last item on the menu (perilla) smoothes and evens out the color.

Since this is the second oil-based cosmetic in this series, aimed mainly at owners of oily and combination skin, we carefully monitor the reaction of the skin. Surprisingly, it quickly takes on the formula and, despite the layer of a shiny film, does not feel heavy and there is no trace of enlarged pores. The smell and appearance of the serum is exactly the same as other representatives of this type of care from the Polana line. The cosmetics are very pleasant, and the fragrance coming from inside the aesthetic bottle is associated with a summer meadow.

We start the morning routine of Herbapol blue series with Polana Moisturizing cream-gel for the day. Surprisingly, the formula is quite rich for a cosmetic product that should be the base for care, but we do not give up. The packaging indicates that the composition contains 96,9% natural ingredients.

The aroma of the cream is slightly different from other products of this brand. It's less floral, but that's not a drawback. Neutral fragrance can be an advantage in the case of a product on which we apply subsequent layers: serum, base, foundation, powder, etc.

Concerns about the seriousness of the drug are somewhat confirmed. A few hours after applying the cream, you can see the places where the formula has accumulated and the skin has shone. Subsequent attempts have had a similar effect - despite changing the color of the makeup and trying to apply less moisture, the cream feels a bit clogged and overly moisturizing.

Applying Glade Facial Moisturizer at night shed some light on this issue. Not only was it a light and gel-like texture, but it also felt too matte for a nightly skincare. Therefore, we decided to change the timing of both products, and it worked as expected - the night cream used during the day is the perfect base for make-up, while the day cream works as a rich treatment before bed. Be on the lookout - this can be a common food packaging mistake.

For dessert, we left the caring lipstick Polana Moisturizing. This is a very oily and typical winter formula. It has an oily finish, but other than a gloss on the lips, it leaves no traces of color. Its smell is neutral and cosmetic, but it contains as many as three extracts: cornflower, sunflower and black cumin. Cosmetics have proven effective as a daily lip protection, although they have not made peeling impossible.

Our tests came up with an unequivocal verdict - Polana vegan cosmetics are worthy of attention and, like Herbapol fruit and flower teas, have a richness of aromas. It also matters how they were packaged. And it's not just environmental materials. The beautiful graphic design of paper boxes also deserves attention. Drawings of plants resemble herbal books. Between the colorful pictures, we found a lot of information about the work of individual formulas and their purpose. It is very practical and aesthetic.
