However, even experienced drivers should be aware that new dangers appear on the road with the onset of short days. What should be taken care of when traveling on a motorcycle during the gray autumn season? We advise!

Motorcycle tires - be sure to check their condition

Inappropriate motorcycle tires during autumn driving can result in a painful fall. As the temperature decreases, the grip of the tires to the ground decreases.and moisture, leaves and sand carried away by the wind create a small obstacle course on the road that old rubber surfaces cannot cope with. So it is better to consider replacing them if they have been used for a long time.

On slippery surfaces, you will need tires with a tread for drainage. This key element of the tire loses its properties over time, which is why it is so important to check its condition before going on a trip. Although the minimum allowable tread depth is 1,6mm, this is not the case. If this value falls below 3 mm, it is recommended to replace the tires.

Another key factor is the air pressure in the rubber - in this matter it is good to follow the recommendations of the manufacturer, and if necessary inflate only on cold tires. The air in warm rubber expands, which can lead to inaccurate pressure readings.

Misted glass in a helmet effectively makes it difficult to ride a motorcycle. A temporary solution is to raise the visor, but then the driver is exposed to direct contact with strong winds. This painful problem can be dealt with by purchasing a padded lining that instantly wicks moisture away and thus prevents evaporation on the glass surface.

Traveling in the rain and the accompanying drops running down the visor of a helmet are no less annoying. Wiping with your hand does not give the expected results, and turning your head to shake off water is not a good idea while driving, so it is recommended to use proven measures. The so-called invisible rug, characterized by high hydrophobic properties, i.e. in this case - the ability to quickly drain water from the helmet lens.

This drug should only be applied to a dry, clean surface on both sides and smeared in a circular motion with a paper towel. After some time, the finish layer will become matte - then you need to apply the product again, wait, and then carefully polish the glass with microfiber. Viewfinder treated with "invisible wiper" get rid of water quickly, which will significantly increase the comfort of travel.

Remember the correct driving technique

With the onset of autumn, it is worth adapting the driving style to the prevailing conditions. For safety well increase the distance to the car in front – a few extra meters of reserve can prevent an accident.

It is also recommended to drive more slowly than in spring or summer to avoid many slips on wet or leafy surfaces. You should also take into account the possibility of the appearance of wild animalswhich, especially in autumn, as a rule, appear out of nowhere and run across the road.

Autumn on a motorcycle - beware of cooling!

Cooling the body negatively affects reaction time, which is why it is so important to choose warm (comfortable and non-restrictive) clothing. You will have to apply several layers - this will be necessary thermosetting and waterproof underwear, windproof top layer (for example, lined trousers and a suit over a thin fleece are fine).

You should definitely protect sensitive parts of the body. Button up your jacket and button up your pants, or if that's not possible, put a belt over your kidneys. Long cuffed gloves provide excellent protection against the harsh cold. A balaclava and a high collar will create a tight barrier protecting the head and neck. A set of warm clothes will not only protect you from chafing, but also – in the event of an accident – ​​minimize the risk of skin abrasions.
