Antifreeze for Nissan Almera Classic

Antifreeze is a coolant designed to maintain the required temperature in a car engine. It acts as a lubricant and protects the cooling system from corrosion.

Timely replacement of antifreeze is part of vehicle maintenance. The Nissan Almera Classic model is no exception and also requires regular maintenance and replacement of technical fluids.

Stages of replacing coolant Nissan Almera Classic

If everything is done step by step, replacing the old fluid with a new one is not difficult. All drainage holes are located quite conveniently, it will not be difficult to get to them.

This car was produced under different brands, so the replacement will be the same for:

  • Nissan Almera Classic B10 (Nissan Almera Classic B10);
  • Samsung SM3 (Samsung SM3);
  • Renault scale).

The car was produced with a 1,6-liter gasoline engine, unpretentious in maintenance and quite reliable. This engine is marked QG16DE.

Draining the coolant

To carry out the procedure for draining used antifreeze, you must do the following:

  1. Below, next to the pipe leading to the radiator, there is a special drain key (Fig. 1). We unscrew it so that the liquid begins to drain. In this case, the motor protection does not need to be removed, it has a special hole.Antifreeze for Nissan Almera Classic
  2. Before fully opening the tap, we substitute a container into which the spent antifreeze will merge. A hose can be pre-inserted into the drain hole to prevent splashing.
  3. We remove the plugs from the filler neck of the radiator and expansion tank (Fig. 2).Antifreeze for Nissan Almera Classic
  4. When the liquid drains from the radiator, it is advisable to remove the expansion tank to flush it. It usually contains some liquid at the bottom, as well as various kinds of debris. It is removed quite simply, you need to unscrew 1 bolt, under the head by 10. After disconnecting the hose that goes to the radiator, there is a spring clamp that is removed by hand.
  5. Now drain from the cylinder block. We find the cork and unscrew it (Fig. 3). The plug has locking threads or sealant, so be sure to apply it when installing.Antifreeze for Nissan Almera Classic
  6. You also need to unscrew the plug or bypass valve, which is located in the thermostat housing (Fig. 4).Antifreeze for Nissan Almera Classic

When replacing antifreeze with a Nissan Almera Classic, the maximum amount of liquid is drained in this way. Of course, some part remains in the motor pipes, it cannot be drained, so flushing is necessary.

After the procedure, the main thing is not to forget to put everything in its place, as well as close the drainage holes.

Flushing the cooling system

After draining the used antifreeze, it is advisable to flush the system. Since a variety of deposits can form in the radiator, its lines and the pump over time. Which over time will prevent the antifreeze from circulating normally through the cooling system.

The procedure for internal cleaning of the cooling system is recommended for each replacement of antifreeze. To do this, you can use distilled water or special tools. But in most cases, if replacements are made according to the regulations, distilled water is sufficient.

To flush the cooling system, pour distilled water into the radiator and expansion tank. Then start the Almera Classic B10 engine, let it run for a few minutes until it warms up. The thermostat opened and the liquid went in a big circle. Then drain, repeating the washing procedure several times until the color of the water when draining becomes transparent.

It should be understood that the drained liquid will be very hot, so you need to wait until the engine cools down. Otherwise, you may injure yourself in the form of thermal burns.

Filling without air pockets

We check the closure of all drain holes, leave the bypass valve on the thermostat open:

  1. pour antifreeze into the expansion tank up to the MAX mark;
  2. we begin to slowly pour new fluid into the filler neck of the radiator;
  3. as soon as the antifreeze flows through the hole left open for ventilation, located on the thermostat, close it (Fig. 5);Antifreeze for Nissan Almera Classic
  4. fill the radiator completely, almost to the top of the filler neck.

Thus, with our own hands we ensure the correct filling of the system so that air pockets do not form.

Now you can start the engine, warm it up to operating temperature, periodically increase the speed, lightly load it. The pipes leading to the radiator after heating must be hot, the stove, turned on for heating, must drive hot air. All this indicates the absence of air congestion.

However, if something went wrong and air remained in the system, you can use the following trick. Insert a paper clip under the bypass valve located on the radiator cap, leaving it open.

After that, we start the car, wait until it warms up and accelerates a little, or we make a small circle, picking up speed. Therefore, the airbag will come out by itself, the main thing is not to forget about the clip. And of course, once again check the coolant level in the expansion tank.

Frequency of replacement, which antifreeze to fill

Subject to the rules described in the operating instructions, the first replacement should be carried out no later than 90 thousand kilometers or 6 years of operation. All subsequent replacements must be carried out every 60 km and therefore every 000 years.

For replacement, the manufacturer recommends using the original Nissan Coolant L248 Premix Fluid. You can also use Coolstream JPN antifreeze, which, by the way, is used as the first fill at the Renault-Nissan plant located in Russia.

Many owners choose RAVENOL HJC Hybrid Japanese Coolant Concentrate as an analogue, it also has Nassan approvals. It is a concentrate, so it is good to use if a wash was used during the shift. Since some distilled water remains in the system and the concentrate can be diluted with this in mind.

Some owners fill in the usual G11 and G12 antifreeze, according to their reviews everything works fine, but they have no recommendations from Nissan. Therefore, some problems may arise in the future.

Leaks and problems

The Nissan Almera Classic engine is simple and reliable, so any leaks will be individual. The places from which antifreeze most often comes out should be looked for at the joints of parts or in a leaky pipe.

And of course, over time, the pump, thermostat, and also the coolant temperature sensor fail. But this can be attributed rather not to breakdowns, but to the development of a resource.
