Aprilia Pegaso 650 IU

Last year, when the new BMW F 650 refreshed the market and, of course, raised the entry price for this class, we also expected a concrete boom from Case Noale. The Aprilia Pegaso has long been a well-known motorcycle and the genetic basis of the Bimwe's predecessor. So it would be logical for Noale to stand on their hind legs in defense of market shares.

The Munich motor show last fall brought almost the same bike. Oh what is it now? You walk around the car and don't see a noticeable difference. Bad news for new hungry firbs, good news for motorcycle owners who can shake hands. The rest are the owners of a fresh product. And if you're buying a new (or used) motorcycle, you can rest assured that it hasn't expired yet. And you do it with the satisfaction (hmm, illusion) that you've made a good investment again. Great, but the prospectus still says that the bike is refurbished!

The differences are small, but you notice them when you get on the motorcycle. You don't even need to start the engine. The first feeling in the seat gives the impression that the pants are more comfortable. Then I will learn from the brochure that the seat on the new bike is lower. If the measurement is accurate enough, it is 40 mm lower. This means that the man's feet reach the ground well and that the girl is also good at driving. The mass with all liquids barely exceeds 200 kilograms. With good leg support, this is a manageable but not ideal number. Weight is known everywhere and is especially important in the class of motorcycles that try to satisfy a wide range of desires and purposes.

It is very easy to park this motorcycle. It's a shame it also lacks a central parking support as it offers more security in vegan terrain and better parking inside the walls of the house. Emergency luggage can be stored in a smaller trunk behind the seat, but I miss a handy drawer for my phone, a pencil and some other little things that are not good to carry in my pockets. I recommend buying at least a top suitcase.

Favorable consumption

With Sagem injection, the engine has entered a new era of life. Without more concrete data, it is difficult to compare what they have chosen in Aprilia for their engine equipment. But the injection system has two nozzles (for each of its own intake ducts), a sensor that accurately detects the rotation of the crankshaft for every 10 angular degrees. And it has a set of sensors that record: the pressure in the air filter, the temperature of the intake air, the temperature of the engine and the opening angle of the damper in the intake diffuser.

An electronic component very accurately monitors all movements of the throttle lever and effectively adjusts the timing and amount of fuel injected. The fact that we have experience with injection systems works very obediently. The driver will not notice the difference between the new and the old engine at all, since the car ignites with equal accuracy, obediently follows the movements of the throttle lever and even at a constant speed there is no uneven operation or starting. However, the engine may already have an automatic choke! This is not a technical necessity, but it is convenient.

From a mechanical point of view, the engine remains the same Rotax product, which has five radially mounted valves in the head (three inlet, two outlet) and a vibration damping shaft. Along with the injection, the engine also received a catalytic converter. Last but not least, it has a sensor that shuts off the fuel supply and shuts off the engine if the bike rolls over on the ground.

Home impression

Slightly modified switches and a classic dashboard give the impression of a homely feel. You may be concerned about starting the engine if the injection warning light comes on as a result of the self-diagnosis system. Until it burns while driving, everything is under control. If the fuel reserve indicator comes on, you too are safe, as a little less than five liters of fuel remain before complete drought. This should be enough to get you closer to the city centers with an easy ride.

Petrol has the nasty habit of shutting off pumps in places that are very interesting for sunset excursions. And if you are on the coast, in the Kochevye area and similar places, watch out for fuel supplies. At that time, little Slovenia was as big as Africa, and because the devil loves her and often young people just where it is not needed, she is so sparsely populated.

The aerodynamic hemisphere is always a necessity. In hot weather, it casually draws hot air from under the engine, but plastic accessories are necessary for a comfortable fast ride. Hand guards have also been added to the steering wheel, which is very convenient in rain and cold, although the part itself is cheap. Weights at the ends of the handlebars dampen hand-fatiguing vibrations and protect the motorcycle in the event of a collision with the ground.

Aprilia states that the Pegasus has been fitted with the best front fork. After a one-year break, I did not notice the difference. Likewise, I dare not claim that the rear damper is more effective than it was, even though the inboard valve setting was re-selected. The suspension just works reliably and is adjustable enough that no racing skills are required. Restores a sense of security while driving. The bike bends very precisely and without resistance, changes direction effortlessly, takes turns to bend reliably and does not go astray even when the rider starts to brake on a slope. In short, the bike forgives serious ride nonsense due to painful panic. It will really come in handy for a beginner, an active young man and a lively gray-haired man.

Aprilia has redesigned the braking system, which is still based on one disc per wheel. New front, better quality hydraulic hoses. However, there remains ABS's godly desire to make it easier for the less agile driver to balance braking power to the front and rear wheels. However, the Slovenes have not yet adopted ABS as their own, so this shortcoming is academic.

FINAL ASSESSMENT

The Pegaso doesn't have many competitors. With its transformation from a slightly off-road bike to a motorcycle intended for urban tourists, it gained ease of use and value. If Slovenes had at least European road legislation, this motorcycle would also be a very suitable motorcycle for beginners, as it is easy to ride.

Up to five in the class, he lacks at least a brake accessory with ABS.
