Aprilia SL 750 shiver

The sun will rise every morning, it is clear that it rises, once it sets, supposedly. And what the Italians paint is wonderful. Well, yes, it's usually true. It is also a fact that nudity is frustrating. And this pin-up Aprilia is no exception. The premiere of the Shiver SL 750 sparked a wave of enthusiasm. Many fell in love at first sight. Mostly Italians, but they are said to be more romantic and appreciate beauty. Well, that's a fact too, if we're already doing it.

In any case, regarding the Shiver 750, we simply cannot say that Monica Bellucci is on two wheels. That flattering title would go to the MV Agusta F4, maybe the MV Agusta Brutale or the Ducati 1098. Aprilia is too unusual, too young, daring and outstanding for anything like that.

But looking at it, it gets hot, it evokes emotions, and given that today all of Western Europe says that naked motorcycles are beautiful, there really is some truth in this. Fact? Of course! Just look at the sales figures for this hugely popular midsize motorcycle segment.

Congratulations to the engineers, designers, and everyone else who contributed in any way to the creation of this new roadster. To be honest, they made a product that is a milestone in their category. In addition to the unique and really boring design, they also took care of the technical candies. Excellent Brembo radial brakes can also beautify an RR supersport motorcycle, and we don't have a single comment on their performance. We can only encourage competitors to copy the best of the moment.

The idea of the frame, which is a combination of steel tubes and aluminum reinforcements, is already visible and borrowed from the RXV / SXV's futuristic sister, but an almost reclining shock absorber that is directly attached to durable, beautifully crafted aluminum. the pendulum proves that even today simple but excellent technical solutions are possible for all competition. We would not have written this statement if we had not been confident in the operation of this avant-garde system on the road.

The frame and suspension, and finally the ride quality of the Shiver is fantastic. Wonderful! The bike not only weighs just 189 “dry” kilograms, it also rides lightly, like a supermoto. They did a great job with the cycling itself, as the Aprilia is so undemanding to ride that we can recommend it to beginners too. But those who really master the technique of driving will quickly make friends and kneel on the pavement after their favorite turns.

Also contributing to this extremely positive impression is an excellent unit - a two-cylinder V90 with four valves per cylinder and a decent 95 “horsepower” and 81 Nm of torque. There’s enough power and torque for a lazy XNUMX-XNUMX gear cruising down a country road or an adrenaline-fuelled ride. The transmission also transitions quickly and smoothly into the big picture, and were it not for the new electronically controlled throttle, the picture would be perfect. It's really difficult for us because we don't want to treat such a good bike unfairly, but it lacks the simpler, direct contact with the engine that only a wire and carburetor can provide. But ecology is becoming more and more important, and with it comes modern electronically controlled fuel injection technology.

We don't know what changed in Aprilia, but when updating the one-of-a-kind Tuono 1000 roadster, they obviously came up with a formula to calculate the ideal ergonomics of motorcycle seats. The wide and high-quality aluminum handlebar fits perfectly in the hand and gives a good sense of control. Even the sitting position itself does not tire the body, and only a longer trip at speeds above 130 km / h will become less and less pleasant over time. But for the highway and those looking for more wind protection, Aprilia will soon make a semi-armored version (as well as a supermoto).

When we look below the line and revise prices, the only question is, is it worth eight thousand euros? If we had them and were intended for a stripped-down motorcycle, we would not think. The Shiver is a great compromise between what we need for everyday use and a sports adrenaline rocket. It's not cheap, understandably, because we're also getting "more bikes" for less money. If price is the only criterion, then Tremble is discarded. A motorcycle with such a refined and avant-garde design, with high-quality components, excellent workmanship, Brembo radial wheels and such sporty and everyday convenience cannot be very cheap at the same time.
