Aprilia Tuono 1000

It's thanks to bikes like the new Tuono 1000 R that we (slightly spoiled motorcycle journalists) also get our dose of adrenaline, which pulls us forward until the next dose. Does it sound like an addiction? Uh, yes! Addicted to speed, hard acceleration, braking, when the hands can hardly bear the load from braking, and to the thirst for extravagance inherent in various motorcycles. But Tuono, believe me, is another matter. Anyway. At first it differs from its predecessor, but also from its competitors.

This time Aprilia also used a tried and tested recipe. The Supersports RSV 1000 R simply stripped off the plastic armor, repositioned the seat, which is more upright on the Tuon and with a wide, flat handlebar allowing for better front wheel control, as well as flattening the power and torque curve and adjusting for on-road driving. So the responsiveness of the engine is amazing.

998cc twin-turbo V-cylinder engine The Cm, made of magnesium, with 60 ° cylinders, is the same as the Aprilia RSV 1000 but has 133 hp, which is 8 more than the first generation Tuon and only 5 horsepower. less than a sporty RSV. Thanks to the fuel intake, which is 25 millimeters longer, they have increased its torque in the lower rev range and improved its response to gas addition. The new unit is capable of developing 102 Nm of torque at 8.750 rpm, while the RSV, for example, reaches 96 Nm at the same speed.

When the two-cylinder engine was pushed in by pressing the ignition button, the sound became muffled from the two exhaust gases conducted high under the rear of the motorcycle. It only really sings when the engine is fully breathing at full throttle. Even so, it is not too noisy, but in terms of Euro 3 emissions it does not interfere with the environment. A pair of "akrapovičs" that are otherwise part of the optional original equipment will definitely change this and add some sharpness to the bike.

Even without that, Tuono doesn't disappoint. How great it is in acceleration is shown by the factory data, which covers a quarter of a mile, or 400 meters, from complete rest in just 10 seconds. Acceleration from 78 to 0 km / h is 100 seconds. "Bad"! Therefore, it is not suitable for everyone, but only for experienced riders who know what they want from their motorcycle and know how to use what it offers. And this is not only us, but also the leaders of Aprilia.

Otherwise, the Tuono is extremely playful and easy to handle. He reveals his character by lifting the first wheel high in the air, but does so with such ease and calmness that it instills a lot of confidence in the driver. It is calm on long planes and at high speeds, because, despite the minimal wind protection, like on the track, it follows the given direction even at the declared maximum speed of 253 km / h (factory application).

When we talk about aerodynamics, we have to acknowledge the excellent work of the engineers. Despite the minimum wind protection possible, the airflow was excellent and unobtrusive for the driver, which the Tuono easily overcomes even at speeds above 130 km / h. Arguably one of the least fatiguing roadsters in terms of comfort at slightly higher speeds. Thus, pain in the muscles of the neck is a thing of the past.

But the Tuono really shines when the road gets serpentine and the tarmac provides good traction with its athletic shoes. Plenty of power and torque, plus a sporty aluminum frame with fully adjustable suspension, is a great way to get your adrenaline pumping. Aprilia also thought about safety. The Brembo brakes are excellent and the radially mounted brake calipers come with a pair of 320mm discs. The Tuono has a quality built-in steering damper and anti-lockup clutch as standard, something we've seen so far mostly on racing bikes, but stock bikes are still a valuable rarity on production bikes.

For all the sportiness, racing gear, and exclusivity of the bike, you're probably expecting a salty price tag. And not this time! In April, the Tuono 1000 R costs 2.760.000 tolar, which is a fair price for a roadster with this character. Expect more and more adrenaline junkies!
