Aprilia Pegaso Cube 650

The stylized Pegasus has been appearing on Aprilia for several years now. To prevent its wings from losing their luster and tarnishing in the crowd of market competitors, it undergoes at least minor cosmetic changes every year. His designers make sure that his image is always fresh and modern, despite years of persistence on the stage. And, apparently, they are doing well.

It's pretty easy to ride. Far from resisting you. It waits for the riders quite high, but also gives joy to the lower drivers. You need to lift it by the side stand, since it does not have a central (!) The driving position does not fatigue, the enduro handlebars are wide and give a feeling of stability and complete control over the motorcycle.

Beneath the tinted grille are sleek, sporty and transparent RPM, RPM and temperature gauges. On the left side there is a noticeable area with control lamps, which are clearly visible even in strong light.

The Pegasus electric starter will instantly wake you up and make you run calmly enough. From the twin tailpipes under the seat, it sounds the characteristic muffled voice of a single-cylinder. Riding requires an initial habituation. The tiny vibrations of his well-known and unchanged five-valve motor heart for several years causes tingling sensations in the fingers. But we get used to it soon after we spend time with Pegasus.

Unlike steering wheel vibration, pedal and seat vibration does not interfere at all. The hot air sent by Pegasus from the motor heart between the legs can be unsettling. Especially when the refrigerator fan is on. We also need to adapt the ride to a single cylinder. At first, the unit is quite lazy, but it wakes up above 3000 rpm. And that's literally. Then we must be especially careful.

Power will show us up to 7.000 rpm, and then it will slowly get tired. This will show us that he does not want to drive at high revs, as he prefers a slower drive. And it is anywhere: in the city, on a trip, on the highway or off-road. He will seem to be calmer in all respects. And if we can afford it, solo or in a duet.

He's not exactly a glutton, but you have to be careful. If we are rude and force him to tense, he will drink significantly more than his usual dose. With a full tank of fuel, you can safely drive more than 250 kilometers. He will even warn us that he needs a drinking bowl with a warning light when he has only 5 liters of greens left.

To safely transport the weight of the driver and passenger, the frame is made of a strong steel bracket, which is also a reservoir for lubricating oil (the engine has a dry sump), and is complemented by an aluminum frame with two spokes. Attached to the front are nifty upside-down Marzocchi forks that do their job well, as well as slightly padded swingarm rear forks with suspension shock absorbers. Even with sharp twists, it is trustworthy, but it should be noted that it is not intended to test performance limits. Enduro Pirelli tires do not allow this either.

Thus, the frame is a quality unit, enough to carry one extra kilo of excess weight stored in suitcases that can be bought and attached to it. Even with braking taken care of by the fairly large front and rear discs, we can feel the Pegasus' willingness to help. No matter how much weight we carry, our deceleration is safe.

In addition to the listed suitcases, a center stand (!), An adjustable rear shock absorber and an anti-theft alarm are available as accessories. You'll find most of the above in the richer and more expensive Pegauo Guard.

Regardless of age, the rejuvenated Pegaso is good enough to stay in the game. After all, it is also a drink of our youth, which we have known for many years, and now it is hidden in more attractive, sometimes suitable packaging. But she is as good as she was then. Or even better! Why will things be different with Pegasus? Plus, it's now on sale at a special price!
