ARP - active rollover protection

The Ssangyong active rollover protection system is very similar in operation to the more famous RDC.

The safety frame consists of a fixed aluminum profile attached to the vehicle body with a movable spring profile inside it. Thanks to its efficient design, this roll-over protection system is able to absorb more force than previous roll bars. The inner profile is held in its original position by means of a solenoid switch.

As soon as the sensors detect a possible rollover or collision (front, rear or side), the airbag protection system activates the airbag control unit.

An electromagnetic switch releases the latch, releasing the inner profile. The protection system requires a maximum of 250 ms for a full extension stroke of 265 millimeters. If the top is up, the rollover of the protection system extends beyond the horizontal head line pushed by the spring. If no rollover occurs, the booms can be manually inserted into place.

This solution helps keep repair costs to a minimum.
