On March XNUMX, the embargo on Audi e-tron GT reviews ended as extensive car presentations appeared in many places on the Internet. The E-tron GT in the most powerful version of the RS and in Tactical Green was also given to Bjorn Nyland for quick testing.

Audi e-tron GT - first impressions of Nyland

The described Audi e-tron GT is a car of the E segment, which means that it is a direct competitor to the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S. The car has two engines (1 + 1) with a total power of 440 kW (598 hp). which allow it to accelerate from 100 to 3,3 km / h in XNUMX seconds. Useful battery capacity is 85 kWhslightly more than the Porsche Taycan.

However, in general we are dealing with Taikan in a slightly modified bodyeven Nyland noticed. An interesting fact is that at 50% battery and the temperature is about 4,5 degrees Celsius, vehicle forecast 192 km (official: 472 WLTP units, ~403 km combined). This is not so bad, given the conditions and the fact that the car was turned on with heating at 21 degrees - the energy was gone, the consumption increased, and the mileage did not increase.

Audi e-tron GT vs Porsche Taycan

Bjorn Nyland, a 173 cm tall man, could place his fist over his head. Behind, "behind", he had ample legroom, but above his head he had only two toes. So a person with a height of 175 centimeters will be cramped and uncomfortable. Nyland didn't fit in the center back seat. Audi e-tron GT clearly this is not a car for traveling more than four people (2+2).

Four people are also “just right” when it comes to luggage. Luggage compartment capacity of the Audi e-tron GT front 81 liters and 405 liters rear.

The car's interior is a strong Porsche nod, with Alcantara and carbon fiber in many places, but Nyland said the Taycan's cabin is better (and more premium?). The counters and interface, in turn, were similar to the "big" Audi e-tron, that is, to the brand's SUV.

In car The radio activated itself twice... This did not refer to the moment the car was started, but to random situations during presentation and driving. It’s as if someone was actively listening to traffic information or a car was planning to deliver a message that it didn’t already have.

Driving experience

Nylanda surprised minimal recoverywhich could not be amplified by the petals while driving. In the Volkswagen ID.3, the recuperation in D mode is usually weak, but when driving more densely this becomes noticeable thanks to the additional monitoring of the signals from the radar (I detect an obstacle = I recover more before braking). The Audi e-tron GT, apparently, decided otherwise, the restoration was directly related to the pressure on the brake pedal.

There are complaints in other media that with the carbon brakes the moment of activation of the classic system was unpleasant, which is incompatible with the previous regenerative braking.

However, the Audi electrician, despite his sporty pedigree, turned out to be comfortable, well absorbed bumps on the road, played the role of a comfortable car for long trips - that is, GT. Nyland also talked about the feeling of confidence that the car gives. In dynamic mode the car gave the impression of being fast, although it did not break its neck... The Porsche Taycan behaved more aggressively under the same conditions, the passengers spoke of the impression of a soft kick in the stomach.

Summary? According to Nyland, the e-tron GT is the true little brother of the Taycan. It doesn't compete with Porsche because it offers similar value for money (with slightly worse features). Both Audi and Porsche liked the YouTuber, but emphasized that he chose Tesla for himself, and Audi and Porsche cannot afford it.
