Audi SQ7 and SQ8 replace diesel V8 with gasoline

Just a year after the advent of the diesel SQ7 and SQ8, the German manufacturer Audi refused its offer and replaced them with gasoline modifications, whose motors are more powerful. Thus, the current 4,0-liter V8 diesel engine produces 435 hp. gives way to a gasoline engine with two turbines (TFSI), which is also a V8, but its power is 507 hp

However, the maximum torque of the new unit is lower - 770 Nm, and for a diesel engine - 900 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in both variants - SQ7 and SQ8 takes 4,1 seconds, which is 0,7 seconds faster than previously offered versions with diesel engines. Top speed remains electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Unlike a diesel engine, the new TSI petrol unit is not part of a “soft” hybrid system with a 48-volt power supply. However, Audi claims to be equipped with new features to increase efficiency. They include a shutdown system for some cylinders while driving, as well as an optimized exchange between turbochargers and combustion chambers.

So far, the environmental performance of the two petrol-powered crossovers has not been announced, but they are unlikely to be better than the diesel versions of the Audi SQ7 and SQ8 (235-232 g / km CO2). The Porsche Cayenne GTS, which uses a variant of the same V8, reports 301 and 319 g / km CO2.

The company claims that the new V8 engine sounds much more impressive, and is also equipped with special active supports that minimize vibration in the cabin. The SQ7 and SQ8 versions retain the swivel rear wheels, making the SUV more stable and manoeuvrable. As before, both models have air suspension, quattro all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Prices for new items are already known: the Audi SQ7 will cost 86 euros, while the SQ000 is expected to be more expensive - 8 euros.
