Autol M8V. Soviet engine oil

Composition and varieties

Modern motor oil M8v, of course, is not identical in its components to a hundred-year-old car. However, it is still based on distillate petroleum oils that have undergone an acid cleaning procedure followed by dewaxing. This contributes to a relatively simple change in viscosity, so the cars were immediately classified into summer and winter.

The composition of M8v oil also includes:

  1. Anti-seize additives.
  2. anti-corrosion components.
  3. temperature stabilizers.
  4. Inhibitors.

Modern motor vehicles include oils similar to M8v, which are also intended for use in engines of automotive and tractor equipment, mainly diesel ones. For example, M8dm oil (produced from sour oil, used in forced turbocharged diesel engines), or M10G2k oil (used for diesel engines, during which increased carbon formation is likely).

A characteristic feature of M8v engine oil is considered to be an increased degree of purification during the production process, with the possibility of adding other distillate fractions. This increases the stability of worn engines, for which the gaps between moving parts approach the upper tolerance field.

Technical specifications

GOST 10541-78, in accordance with the technical requirements of which an M8v brand car is produced, provides for the following mandatory oil parameters:

  1. Density at room temperature, kg/m3: 866.
  2. Kinematic viscosity range for 100 °C, mm2/ s: 7,5… 8.5.
  3. Viscosity index: 93.
  4. Ignition temperature, °С, not less than: 207.
  5. Thickening temperature, °С, no more: -25.
  6. The largest amount of mechanical impurities, %: 0,015.
  7. Ash content on sulfates, %, no more than: 0,95.
  8. Alkalinity according to KOH, mg/l, not less: 4,2.

A slight presence in the oil of calcium, fluorine and zinc cations, as well as phosphorus anions, is allowed. The stability of the transparency of the oil before its first use must be maintained for at least 30 hours (with the exception of autols, which are produced from oil from East Siberian fields: for them, the sedimentation rate is reduced to 25 hours).

At the additional request of the consumer, the characteristics of M8v oil also indicate its dynamic viscosity, which should be in the range of 2500 ... 2700 mPa s. Dynamic viscosity control is carried out at a temperature of -15 ° C and a difference in the relative shear rate of adjacent parts 4860s-1.

Feature of application

Most users of the car in question note the stability of its characteristics, which changes little with an increase in car mileage. It is noted that mineral oil M8v is especially good on cars of the VAZ family, operated in the summer. Oil change should be done after 7000 ... 8000 km of run. The optimal ratio of additives minimizes carbon deposits in the engine.

Autol brand M8v corresponds to the international classification SAE20W-20. The closest foreign analogues are TNK 2t from Lukoil or M8G2. From imported oils - Shell 20W50.

Price per liter

Determined by the volume of oil in the tank. For a canister with a volume of 10 liters, prices start from 800 rubles, for 20 liters - from 2000 rubles, for a barrel with a capacity of 200 liters - from 16000 rubles. Prices also vary depending on the manufacturer (for domestically produced cars, these are usually Lukoil or Gazpromneft trademarks).
