Luggage in the car. Functional solutions for a long journey
During the holidays, not only a roomy trunk is important. Equally important are the solutions that allow you to functionally arrange the necessary items.
Drivers planning a holiday trip must consider not only luggage capacity, but also how planned luggage should be stowed in the vehicle. It is about both safety and practical aspects. For example, drinks and sandwiches for the road should be within easy reach, and a sun lounger on the beach should be securely fastened.
Car manufacturers are meeting these needs and trying to design their cars in such a way that they are as functional as possible. In this regard, Skoda offers many smart solutions. The Czech brand has long offered a number of features in its cars to make traveling and storing luggage easier, from an elastic cord that holds a newspaper to an elaborate seat folding mechanism. They have two features - they are simple and functional.
For example, all Skoda models have hooks in the trunk. You can hang a bag or a fruit net on them. The bag hook can also be found in the interior on the glove compartment opposite the front passenger. This solution can be used by drivers of, for example, Fabia, Rapid, Octavia or Superb models.
A holiday trip is not complete without drinks. Luckily, you can find plenty of coasters or holders for bottles or cans in the cabins. And if we took a lot of bottles, then it is better to put them in trunks for safety reasons. For example, Skoda models have special organizers in which bottles can be placed vertically. Organizers can also be used for other purposes, for example, to transport small items there so that they do not move in the trunk.
Nets are also used to secure luggage. The trunk of every Skoda can be equipped with vertical and horizontal nets suspended from the floor, side walls or under the trunk shelf. Another functional and smart solution is the double boot floor. In this way, the luggage compartment can be divided into two parts and it is better to use it by hiding flat objects under the floor. If this arrangement of the luggage compartment is not required, you can quickly place an additional floor on the bottom of the luggage compartment.
Skoda is also well aware of how to transport dirty garden tools or bags of cement in the trunk. This is a double sided mat found on Octavia and Rapid models. On the one hand, it is covered with a fabric designed for everyday use, and on the other hand, it has a rubber surface that is resistant to water and dirt. Easy to clean under running water.
When preparing your car for a holiday trip, you also need to think about the correct location of luggage and its proper securing. – Loosely secured luggage can shift while driving, causing a shift in the center of gravity and, as a result, a change in track. It should also be remembered that the load does not prevent the driver from driving and does not interfere with the visibility of headlights, license plate and direction indicators, - explains Radoslav Jaskulsky, instructor at Skoda Driving School.
And if you're already packing your holiday luggage, it's worth considering what - besides personal items or camping equipment - to take with you. Sunglasses are a must, preferably with polarized lenses. In turn, if the car is in the sun, a sun visor on the windshield will come in handy. A mobile phone charger, a flashlight and, if you are going on a hike, a folding shovel should be indispensable equipment for your car.
Of course, a jack, a wheelbrace, a spare tire, a set of spare light bulbs, and a set of spare fuses will not hurt. Also useful liquid to remove insects from the windows.
