Base Ford F-150 Lightning sells out fast, prices could rise

Ford's electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning, quickly ran out of stock for base models, demonstrating the great driving force behind this electric vehicle. However, the fact that the same thing is happening with the Ford Bronco is worrying when a resale market emerges that pushes pickup truck prices sky high.

Base models are already sold out due to reservations. Demand for electric trucks could create a strong resale market. Will we see prices for the base F-150 Lightning skyrocket?

Will the 150 Ford F-2022 Lightning be resold at exorbitant prices like the Ford Bronco?

Remember how excited consumers and fans were when the Bronco nameplate rose from the grave and introduced new updates? The demand for it was crazy, and the offer, to put it mildly, was absent. Ford couldn't keep up with demand for the Bronco, especially when it came to pandemic-related supply issues.

As a result of limited supply and high demand, a Bronco resale market has emerged. Reservation owners listed Bronco models for thousands of dollars more than their original MSRP. Some models have been listed on eBay for double the original MSRP.

To make matters worse, Bronco deliveries were delayed. Some consumers waited months for their orders. The joy of many consumers quickly evaporated when they realized that it was impossible to get a Bronco, at least at retail prices.

150 Ford F-2022 Lightning Pro and XLT Already Sold Out

Fast forward to 2022 and the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro and XLT versions are already sold out. According to InsideEVs, unless you pre-order the Pro or XLT, only the Lariat and Platinum models will be available for sale. This puts F-150 Lightning Pro and XLT drivers in a unique position.

Even if the vast majority of bookings are for drivers who want to drive an electric pickup on a daily basis, there is a chance that some bookings will end up being resold, whether that was the original intent of the booking or not.

F-150 Lightning as a budget model

Whether the base model Lightning will sell for incredible prices in the same way as the base Bronco or not is unknown, but people do want this truck and some will be willing to pay for it. Deliveries should begin around May. News of the absence of the F-150 Lightning Pro and XLT versions has just come out, so many armor holders may not even realize how valuable their electric trucks are.

Supply chain issues in auto industry hamper car launches

Ford plans to produce many new F-150 Lightning models, but it remains to be seen whether the company will be able to do so in a timely manner. The way Bronco was delivered left a bad taste on many consumers. The F-150 Lightning is a bestseller, but will its nameplate be a hit when it hits the public? It all depends on whether consumers are satisfied with the availability and delivery time of the electric van.

The blue oval is holding a doorbell. Let's hope the brand can produce enough models and fulfill orders quickly enough to keep consumers satisfied. If not, in the future, consumers will have plenty of electric truck options to choose from.
