Shell V-Power is the commercial name for unleaded gasoline fuel, which is developed and marketed in the domestic market under the Shell trademark. At the filling stations belonging to the concern, this type of gasoline is sold with different octane numbers - 95 or 98.
Features and capabilities of fuel
Shell V-Power gasoline is positioned by the manufacturer as a unique premium fuel that does not contain organometallic compounds, which often prevent the engine from realizing its nameplate power. The patented formula of the fuel in question also guarantees:
- Multi-stage protection of the engine against pollution, mechanical and thermal wear.
- Increased anti-corrosion resistance.
- Increased durability of fuel filters.
Reduced abrasive wear on moving parts in a Shell V-Power gasoline engine is achieved by an innovative combination of two cleaners that complement each other. It has also been established that such a combination leads to a decrease in the specific oil consumption and a decrease in the volume of harmful emissions. The slow development of wear processes also delays the beginning of the period when the engine loses its actual power.
An important factor in the efficiency of Shell V-Power fuel is considered to be an increase (about 6 times) in the concentration of detergent additives. This ensures that more than half of the accumulated carbon deposits on the intake valve are removed in a timely manner.

- Shell V-Power Gasoline Efficiency increases during the warm season. Many believe that the reason for this is the presence of additives that reduce frictional losses. This process occurs at the level of fuel molecules, which, during their turbulent movement through the fuel system of the car, increase the heat capacity of the fuel.
- Action Shell V-Power strongly depends on the octane number of gasoline. With an increase in the octane number (for example, from 95 to 98), the modification of the friction mode increases by about 25%. As a result of the action of additives, an excess amount of nitrogen is formed in the form of organic nitrides. The latter act on carbon deposits in intake valves and fuel injectors, preventing or significantly reducing corrosion.
- A positive effect is observed only with prolonged use (at least 3 ... 4 months) of Shell V-Power fuel, and its octane number does not matter. With the periodic use of other types of fuel, a “conflict of interest” occurs, which most often ends with a complete flush and cleaning of the engine at service stations. Apparently, the chemical composition of additives from different manufacturers is actively incompatible with each other.
