With the start of the school year, you should expect an increase in traffic, especially near schools. In the initial period of training, after the summer holidays, police officers will carry out activities aimed at ensuring the safety of children and adolescents.
From September 4 this year until the end of the 2017/2018 school year, the journey to and from school will be a permanent element of a child's life. Therefore, the police reminds that all road users must monitor its safety. In addition to police officers and teachers, parents and guardians are also responsible for their children. Systematic conversations with children about the rules of the road, and most importantly, setting a good example by their behavior, will certainly have an impact on the formation of appropriate attitudes and behavior of children as unprotected road users.
In accordance with Art. 43 of the Road Traffic Act, a child under the age of 7 may use the road only under the supervision of a person at least 10 years of age (this does not apply to a residential area and a road intended only for pedestrians). A very important factor that increases road safety is the use of reflective elements. Parents who take their children to school should also be aware of the obligation to transport them in car seats or special seats with fastened seat belts. Before school, the child should be unloaded from the car on the sidewalk or shoulder, and not on the side of the road.
