Bimota DB6 Delirium in DB5R

The offer of motorcycles is huge. There are many great motorcycles in this crowd that offer more than most motorcyclists need or even can take advantage of. So why pay 20 euros for a product when you get a real two-wheeled rocket for half the price? Because manufacturers pay great attention to every little detail, which makes the product largely unattainable.

Look at her, Deliria. First from afar from all sides, then close-up. Many parts are milled from a single piece of special aluminum cast iron, the red pipes are precisely welded and the saddle is stitched with thick red thread.

The seat is something special, even when you sit on it. Or rather, in it, since it is designed for the buttocks and does not allow any movements back and forth. This is good for traction when accelerating or when riding on the rear wheel, and bad for those who have "that rear wheel" more. Well, the feeling of hard metal (also) close to masculinity can also be unpleasant.

It's much more enjoyable to grab the wheel and open the throttle to wake up the air-cooled Ducati two-cylinder engine. Although its volume is more than a liter, it cannot simply boast of its power in front of the same liquid-cooled units.

However, there is a difference between this and last year's model, as the speed easily exceeds 200 on long tomb planes, which is a good number for a naked person. The unit pulls very well, the drivetrain is great, and, combined with great suspension components and playful geometry, this Bimota is the right tool for picking up any corner.

We also drove a DB5R wearing sports armor, which has already received a successor at the Milan show this year with a water-cooled unit from 1098. It is already clear that this is not the engine with which you would like to go to Portorož for coffee. The driver's position is sporty, the seat is very rigid, and the bike is extremely narrow and light between the legs, as if it had about 250 cubic centimeters.

We have to compliment the bike's readiness for quick changes of direction, steep inclines and brakes that want to throw you out of the saddle before a Zagreb turn, even with a little stress. I don't understand why the rest of the supercars don't have such good wind protection on this Bimoto that you don't actually have to press your head against the fuel tank to avoid air drag.

The only thing that bothered us about both Italians was the dashboard. The digital gauge looks a little better than a plastic meter lined with plastic. Many people will also look sideways at the switches, turn signals and license plate holder, as these items look suspiciously like Aprilia items. When you deduct such a good amount from the manufacturer, you just want to have the perfect bike. Price aside, Bimots (of course, each to their own range of motorcyclists) are very close to perfection.
