BMW 225xe Active Tourer - Business Insider review
Business Insider has received a BMW plug-in hybrid for testing: the 225xe Active Tourer. The car belongs to the subcompact minivan segment (segment B near the border with C) and has been rated useful, especially when the owner has frequent recharging options.
The BMW 225xe Active Tourer is a relative of the Mini Countryman and is powered by a 3-liter 1.5-cylinder petrol engine with 100 kW (136 hp) and an electric motor of 65 kW (88 hp). The car is capable of developing a purely electric speed of up to 130 km / h, but then it does not have a very large range.
Battery with a capacity of 7,6 kWh in theory, it can drive approximately 27,5 km in mixed mode in good conditions (NEDC: 41 km). When the car was picked up by a Business Insider journalist, the meter showed 25 kilometers in electric mode (temperature: -5 degrees), but only 14 kilometers were covered in electric mode (source). The vehicle is thus at the bottom of the range-sorted hybrid rating scale (it is NOT in the table below):
Charging time? Since the BMW 225xe is not equipped with a quick charge connector, it took 2 hours and 40 minutes to fully charge. We add that with such a small battery, fast charging does not make much sense: it would increase the cost of the car, but rather it would not motivate the driver to stop on the track every 15 kilometers to replenish the energy reserve.
Maybe worth buying, but expensive
According to the observer, buying a car is moderately profitable: the car should be a family minivan, but the battery reduces the fuel tank from 51 liters to 36 liters. That is, gaining 15-30 kilometers of the electric range, we lose about 200 kilometers of the combustion range. For this "benefit" you must pay at least 46,6 thousand PLN.

As the journalist emphasizes, the greatest benefit from using the BMW 225xe can be seen in city traffic, when the driver has the opportunity to frequently recharge the battery. Thus, the BMW 225xe iPerformance can appeal to a person who lives in the city or on its outskirts, who gives birth to children and goes to work, and sometimes even goes on a further journey. His humor can spoil the price of the car, which in the tested version was as much as 235 PLN.
