BMW 328i GT: five doors in coupe style – Sports Cars

Few people here appreciate the Series 3's looks. Gran Turismo... Obviously, driving is important to us, but for many, the aesthetic aspect is more important than speed and practical considerations: if not, then BMW would not have had the same success with the Mini.

Based on these premises, whence 3 GT series compared to touring? Well, Gran Turismo will be less beautiful than Touring, but more: longer than 20 cm, taller than 8 and with a height step enlarged by 11 cm, it is almost the same as the X5. This means 7 cm of extra legroom for the rear passengers and trunk 25 liters more. So, what we have in our hands is a GT coupe. rear drive, five-door, slightly more spacious, but also heavier than the familiar analogue. are you following me

Liquid six cylinders which once stood under the hood of the 328 was replaced by a four-cylinder turbo from 1.997 cc and 245 hp This is engine strong - aggressive, smooth and full of torque - and even if this GT hits 100 km / h in 2 seconds to 320d, many will appreciate consumption less and more torque of the diesel version. The unit we tested has an optional eight-speed automatic transmission, a good gearbox combining quick shifting with smooth low-speed behavior.

Famous dynamics on the road Video 3 gets a little tainted by the magnification the weight GT. This model lost 140 kg more than its equivalent sedan and 60 kg more than the Touring, making it rebellious and unwilling to obey the driver's directions. Using Driving experience control you can switch to a sportier mode, but not more fun: the controls will be sharper, but frame it doesn't glow the way it should. IN electric power steering straight and precise, it is instead excellent, but the driving is less restrained than the sedan and struggles to absorb the fast bumps in the road.

You can take the GT for what it is, knowing that you can also say goodbye to fun with it: if you try to increase the pace and drive the car in a sportier way, the GT will be so reluctant to reveal its side. an attraction that makes you want to try again. In option Luxuryso the GT is even less interesting: session too high i points too flat and not very comfortable, and the ride is never as smooth as on a real GT.

So what's the point? The 3 Series sedan and station wagon is a milestone in its category, an almost must-have choice for those who want style, practicality and driving pleasure. And even if the GT is bigger practicewith this look, he has few fans and is less cheerful.

Before we tried it, we hoped that GT aimed primarily at eccentricity, luxury and spaceSporting aside, in short it would be a modern version of the Citroën DS. Unfortunately, this is another unattractive and confusing chimera: slightly more practical than the Touring, but also less beautiful, less attractive, and more expensive. We still prefer BMW Traditional 3 Series Station Wagon: Better than the GT and any other vehicle in its class.
