BMW Motorrad Concept 101 - motorcycle preview

On the occasion of the opening Concorso d'Elegansa Villa d'Este 2015 BMW Motorrad submitted "Concept 101", an ultra-futuristic prototype that, according to the German company, "represents BMW's interpretation of endless highways, a dream of freedom and independence, is a symbol of American Touring."

101 as displacement and the birthplace of the bicycle

Number 101 c "Concept 101" indicates the crowding out of the concept bike that appeared in the US. Six cylinders with a displacement of 1.649 cc Cm corresponds to approximately 101 cubic inches, US displacement unit.

101 also describes the birthplace of the motorcycle. Close to Highway 101, at Designworks in Newbury Park.

Is it just a prototype?

From afar, the slim and aerodynamic silhouette immediately catches the eye. Unlike supersport motorcycles with a low front and a high tail, BMW Motorrad "Concept 101" it is distinguished by the typical teardrop profile of bagger models, with the front fairing representing the highest point.

Two aerodynamically integrated side drawers round out the typical packer model. Exhaust vents on each side with three outlets show the number of cylinders and the resulting power as well as the high torque of the engine.

Will we see this on the market in the future? May be…
