BMW R 1200 C avant-garde

In search of roots in a design approach with a touch of patina, BMW offers the market a motorcycle with this model, which their PR department refers to as a cruiser segment. In a part of the motorcycle market where breakneck speeds, killer accelerations and devilish brakes are not the main violins of the scene.

Avantgarde is the evolution of the R 1200 C, available primarily to those customers who travel through life and on the road with a calm heart, a sober head and a steady hand. One with status and attitude that also promises something more than a motorcycle.

Proven quality engine, excellent brakes combined with ABS, precise five-speed transmission, adjustable clutch and front brake levers, original frame, suspension and finish - these are the qualities that the owners of the avant-garde Beemvee can certainly count on. They can also enjoy looking at retro-style gauges, otherwise without a tachometer, and watching what's happening on the road behind them through well-fitted rear-view mirrors.

It is recommended to adjust the position before driving, as over-steering the chopper does not provide an optimal posture. The eight-valve two-cylinder boxer instantly wakes up on command and breathes full lungs. The sound in the beginning is disappointing, instead of the expected deep bass, the catalyzed exhaust pipes are simply muffled. But it soon comes to the realization that excessive drumming will not be good for a lazy day cruise.

Style is simply not measured in decibels! A detail that is still embarrassing: even the most careful owner can burn a part of the sole of the shoe on the exhaust.

The ride itself is, in fact, pure pleasure: the engine is moderately peppy even in small corners, and in no way requires excessive push and reckless reaction from the driver. Despite the special frame, the bike's handling and stability are particularly noteworthy.

Cruise there is most enjoyable at about 90 kilometers per hour, and the limit of pleasure ends at ten or twenty kilometers per hour more than a hundred. The idyllic picture of perfection is spoiled by the swing arm rear suspension, which turns out to be the weakest link in the package and, despite its adjustability, does not live up to trust. Therefore, on steeper climbs, you can expect the pedals to slide on the pavement too quickly and too often. The passenger won't be pleased either - the jump seat, which can be the driver's back or the passenger's seat, is an interesting solution, but it is clearly too small and uncomfortable.

So if you want to grab attention in style, prove your status and at the same time trust the motorcycle, you will quickly warm up for the avant-garde BMW. It will get even closer to your heart when you realize that the Bavarians will not forget about you as soon as you ride with him from the car dealership.
